New York City is sectioned into 5 boroughs; each borough is a group of closely knit neighborhoods which have their own group of skaters. This makes the tons of skaters in NYC split up into different sections, which also makes it difficult to tell who's on the up-and-up of things.
New York City is sectioned into 5 boroughs; each borough is a group of closely knit neighborhoods which have their own group of skaters. This makes the tons of skaters in NYC split up into different sections, which also makes it difficult to tell who's on the up-and-up of things. Over the past month I have contacted a few skaters who I heard were destroying every obstacle they faced. I didn't manage to get all the up-and-coming skaters from New York City, but I shot a nice handful of up-and-comers who where willing to work with me and put there ass on the line to produce some great photos. Please remember these names because chances are, you will be hearing a lot of stuff and seeing much more in the future from these talented individuals. It was an honor to shoot these guys and learn first hand how great these guys are, not only as skaters but as people. While NYC may seem tough, we all have the same goals and all have fun skating in our city. Through these pictures I hope I can show you a glimpse of that.
- Angelo Ferrer
Ruben Perez - Stale grab up the pole
I’ve known Ruben Perez forever now. Although he is not up-and-coming, he’s well established but has never gotten enough exposure; this photo would be the 3rd one ever taken of him in his 17 years of skating.
Trevor Johnson - Topacid
Trevor has been winning every comp in NYC for the last 2 years. He has proven himself throughout all the boros and is now established among the NYC skate scene. Throughout the world Trevor’s talent could still hold weight and will definitely be an up-and-coming skater to look out for world wide.
Adonis Taylor - Topacid in Queens
Adonis Taylor has been skating for over 8 years and has made a name for himself in NYC as a filmer/skater. He is always throwing down huge tricks with great style.
Will Hoover - 180 from the topledge
Will has the potential to do any huge stunt out there, he has been skating for about 9 years and really had the hopes to get his name out there. Over the years, Will has been subjected to finding a real day job and now pursues acting for movies and plays. I was lucky enough to motivate him to come out and get some pictures with me. When I told him that Be-mag would like to see some shots, he was up and over this gate in less than an hour from when I mentioned it.
Hector Rodriguez - Unity
This kid is defiantly up-and-coming, he has put over 13 years into skating and has slipped under the radar. He’s from the
Bronx and loves skating more then anything in the world.
Evan - 180 Lui Kang & 540
We had an industry meeting in NYC where Evan Grimball was saying how nobody features NYC anymore in magazines. I told him after the meeting that Be-mag was interested and asked me to shoot some skaters. Two days later he pulled off all the photos you see here, within an hour.

Ralphy Herrera - Rough Sweaty
He is an OG in NYC but has slipped under the radar as well. He is skating harder then ever this year and has recently won a competition out in
Connecticut. We got to skate the famous John Bown highschool while Ralphy joked around by doing this.
Kevin C - Bs Unity
Kevin is 15 years old and is from the
Bronx he goes to school 5 days a week but still finds time to skate hard. He will definitely be one to watch coming from NYC in the future; he’s got a lot of heart.
Jose H - Wallride
Jose is definitely on the up-and-up in NYC, he has a great personality and is super talented and can skate anything thrown at him.
