Present yourself: I’m Kawika Jarman, 24 years old, Born in Lihue, Hawaii, (which is where my name comes from) started skating in Spokane, WA, and currently live in Seattle, WA. I’ve been skating for 9 years and have been skating for Remz for the last 5 years. I recently started Bladewa.com, which is an online shop/community site, its a good way for local blader's to connect and get together and session. Check it out and support.
Ed- (Also a quick side note- Kawika is pronounced (Ka-ve-Ka) the W is pronounced like a V in the hawaiian language.)
What setup are you skating right now and what you like about that setup? I’m currently skating Remedyz 0308s, with GC feather light frames, Street Artist wheels, and Vicious bearings. What I like about them is everything. I love remz and couldn’t see my self skating anything else. I skate them with no cuffs and lace them up tight and they feel like no other skate, tight to my foot so I feel like I have total control. The feather lights are my favorite GC’s yet, perfectly grooved out of the box and you can notice how light they are. I’ve been skating the street artist wheels for a month now and so far so good, there not wearing fast and haven’t cored at all. And Vicious bearings roll like butter, even after skating in the Seattle rain a bunch.
What kind of clothes do you wear? Depends on the weather, if its cold I wear lots of flannels and beanies, in the summer mostly T’s and jeans. White V necks are most likely. For jeans I go to the thrift store cuz I can get jeans there and ruin them and not worry about it. As for blade company T’s, I currently have some 4x4, Vicious, Vibralux, and England shirts.
What type of music do you listen to? All kinds of music, like anyone it depends on what I’m doing and what mood I’m in. I like a lot of indie labels and Hiphop. I’ve been listening to a lot of local Seattle hiphop such as Common Market, and Blue Scholars.
Tell us the songs you got in your most played playlist right now? 1) Santogold - Creator
2) Common market - What the trouble is
3) Does it offend you… Yeah? - Dawn of the dead
4) Pepper - Zickys’ song
5) Sufjan Stevens - The man of Metropolis steals our hearts
6) M.I.A - 20 dollar
7) Interpol - Obstacle 1
8) Arcade Fire - No cars go
9) Bloc Party - Uniform
10) Vampire weekend - M79

I want to say that i had a magnificent time on the 2nd waeensddy featuring DJ.Big Bob it was like dejevu with all the old school skaters back together again, it was wounderful. I will be coming back for many waeensddy's to come. I was wondering if a video was shot during that skating session just like the one shot for the 1st waeensddy. Please advise and let me know when it will be available to see if and when it will be posted. Old School Empire Skater Greg P.
