The Realstreet Dresden was founded by me and my friend Marian in the beginning of 2000. We organized it 4 years in a row and it became kind of traditional in Germany. The event was known for its vibe and for the incredible “out of control” afterparties. We had to find new party locations every year, because of people for example trying to break walls with their head (well, it kind of worked…).But somehow we stopped doing it 5 years ago. Now in 2009, the event got revitalized by Georg Rokita. When he asked me about it I was happy to hear that he want to give it a try since he is part of the German (maybe even European) event organizer future. So here we go: A short insight into the Realstreet DD 2009.
The city of Dresden is great for streetskating, but as you know its always a challenge to pick the right spots for showing up with a 150+ crowd. But Mr. Rokita picked the right ones and people from Germany, Czech Republic, Poland and Denmark (ok, just one) started the session.
Jacob Juul: AO Topsoul to Fullcab Soyale
It all started a bit hectic because everybody tried to skate at the same time, so I guess the judges had a hard time in the beginning. The second spot was better for this kind of event and people started to kill the perfect competition rail. Highlights I can remember are a Bs Fastslide to TTS and TTA from young gun Sacha Lopez as well as a Ao Topsoul 2 fullcap Kindgrind from Patrick Hirte. Next Spot was a dropledge. Not many people skated it but the ones who did, did well. Again spotchange to the one which was supposed to be the final spot. But after a short show of Jacob Juul and Gagi Wagenblast we got kicked. No problem, little spotchange and we had another final spot. A nice Kinkrail. The guys from Poland started the show, Gagi Wagenblast, Chris Obermaier and Philipp Preuss joined and Jacob Juul started to get warm. After taking it easy the whole day, it now seemed like he was waiting for this spot. Ao Topsoul the first part and the kink to Soul the second part. The crowd went nuts, but Jacob wasn’t done. A few more tries and he laced a Ao Topsoul to Fullcap Ao Soyal. DONE!
The comp was over and the party started. As always at the Realstreet DD, it was a party to remember. And so was the whole weekend.
Thanks to Georg Rokita and Marian Sorge for keeping the event alive. We all had a good time and hopefully we will meet next year again!
