Quinn Feldman In The Know

Tags: a chosen few, achosen-few-com, adam kola, jonathan labez, quinn feldman

Ever wonder what's going on inside the head of Quinn Feldman, the man behind A Chosen Few? Well, you posed the questions, here are his answers!

Quinn Feldman Be-Mag In The Know Edit from Be-Mag on Vimeo.

HOW IRISH ARE YOU?

I’m not Irish at all.  I think my grandparents were from Russia and Poland.

HOW MANY PUSHUPS CAN YOU DO?

100 if I had time to try.

HOW'D YOU GET SO DOPE?

LOL Practice… like anyone else.

SMOKE BLUNTS?

Not very often, but sometimes you've got to smoke blunts.

ARE SKATERS GETTING PAID FOR CONTENT?

Yes. Some of the skaters will be paid for their content. Every time something is sold on the site that is produced by ACHOSEN-FEW.COM, the skater or skaters get half the profit. Skaters should get paid for their skating.  Skating has to be valued, and on ACHOSEN-FEW.COM you are directly supporting the skaters you want to see.

CAN WE HAVE A PORTAS EDIT NEXT, PLEASE?

Portas will hopefully have a day. I have spoken with him about it and he says he’s going to try.

IF THERE WAS A HIGH JUMP COMPETITION IN ROLLERBLADING, WHO DO YOU THINK WOULD WIN?

Demetrios would win, and you can see how he jumps so high in a new trick tip coming out soon.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?

Salad, steak, shaved ice, all types of pasta dishes, pizza, calamari, chicken, ribs , duck, rabbit. I love food; don’t think I can pin point just one thing.

HOW ARE TRUE SOULS ON NOT-SO-LOW, FLAT RAILS AN EASY TRICK FOR YOU?

Watch the True Soul “Trick Tip” coming soon on ACHOSEN-FEW.COM and you will see.

DO YOU THINK THERE'S A REALISTIC MODEL FOR CHARGEABLE CONTENT IN THE ROLLERBLADING INDUSTRY GIVEN HOW MANY COMPANIES ARE RELEASING FREE ONLINE VIDEOS (VIBRALUX, VALO, ETC)? HOW WILL YOUR CONTENT JUSTIFY THE CHARGE?

Well, first off, 80% of the content on ACHOSEN-FEW.COM is going to be free. For the stuff being sold, yes, I do think it’s justifiable to charge people. I personally would pay a couple bucks to see any number of skaters. I would pay 5 bucks to see the vibralux online video or the Valo online videos or an episode of Footage Tape.  If people don’t want to pay then they can just watch the free content.

But on the question of it being a realistic model?  Yes, I think it is.  You pay using your Paypal account or any credit card, then you press one button and for a very cheap price the video file is uploaded to your computer. You can own the video, the skaters get paid and I think we’re going to get better skating as a result.

The bottom line is that the pros who are pushing our sport should be getting paid for their skating. Money is always a huge motivator to skate harder.

THE CONTENT YOU ARE RELEASING IS GREAT, BUT I AM CONFUSED ON THE WEBSITE ABOUT THE EPISODES FOR SALE. WHY ON EARTH WOULD I BUY IF YOU ARE ALREADY GIVING FULL SECTIONS AWAY FOR FREE?

I kind of covered that in the question above, but, for instance, I’m not giving the new Iain Mcleod profile away for free or the new Winston Wardwell section away for free.  Some of the skating from the Pros and some of the more insane stuff will be available only for purchase just like when you buy a DVD.

HOW DID YOU CHOOSE THE CHOSEN FEW?

Well, basically, the team consists of people who are constantly skating hard and are always determined to keep progressing. It just so happens that the skaters I grew up skating with are some of the best in the world and are down to represent ACHOSEN-FEW.COM. I do want to make it clear that ACHOSEN-FEW.COM is not biased to any skater or company and I want to showcase skating from everyone. There are a ton of talented skaters out in the world and they deserve exposure. But I can tell everyone why I picked these skaters and it has nothing to do with them being my friends.

I picked Connor O’Brien because of his smooth powerful style and his ability to do anything he wants. He also is an awesome guy who is always down to skate and is a true perfectionist whether it is in his skating or anything else.

I picked Iain Mcleod because he is one of the best skaters to ever live. I don’t think I have to elaborate on how skilled and amazing Iain is because that could fill a hundred pages.

I picked Winston Wardwell because of his passion for skating and his raw and insane style. Winston will skate as hard as he can wherever, whenever, and with whomever. He is the most determined skater I know.

Josh Letona was an easy pick. He is the best rail skater of all time. He has done tricks a decade ago that still no skater will do today. His eccentric style and personality are unique.

And then BCAM because he’s fucking BCAM and he’s lacing shit again.

I may add more skaters as time goes on...

QUINN, WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?

Running ACHOSEN-FEW.COM as my business, showcasing and exposing the best skating to the world, and not just to our world but to the world in general. I think rolling is growing and getting bigger again, so 5 years from now I think it will be back in the mainstream where it should have been for a long time.

I’d also like to progress in my own skating, so hopefully I will have full cab truespins on drop kinks by then. I would love nothing more than to be in the rollerblading industry for my whole life.

Pretty bad ass. It's funny I used to not be too fond of Quinn, but now I love what he is doing and I hope he's successful at it.

"Josh Letona was an easy pick. He is the best rail skater of all time."

Sorry, but that's an insane statement. There is no way that belief is widely accepted at all. He may have a very diverse trick vocabulary, including some that no one else can do, but that in no way, shape or form means he is the best rail skater.
