This is Tainted Youth

If you're looking for a professional video, filled with the biggest, newest, trendiest tricks, then you've clicked on the wrong link my friend. This is Tainted Youth. This isn't what rollerblading "should be", this is just what it "is".

My friends and I have talked a lot about the industry. About how everyone's trying to have all these professional standards and outlooks on how things should be handled.

News flash: We are fucking rollerbladers! We shouldn't be worried about professionalism! We are the anti-culture! This isn't the fucking NFL. It's ok to be a little rough around the edges, because that's how it all began. Rollerblading, BMX, etc. We are the outlash at the mainstream sports. We're more than rules, and standards.

That's been our vision in the past year of filming for this video. We're not getting paid for this. Hell, we're not even sponsored. We just want to get down, get drunk, do some fun tricks, and enjoy the time spent working on this together. We think it shows when you watch it.

We could give a fuck about mainstream videos. I don't think we've ever been less juiced after watching any "Razors News" edit. That sense of what skating is actually like is lost amongst all the cheesey professionalism and HD. We want to bring back that anti-culture vibe. That's what rollerblading was created for. Fun and an escape from the norm. Keep your eyes open.

"Tainted Youth" is going to be online, for free, because skating is not about trying to make a buck. It's about what you put into it. So sit back, grab a Miller Highlife, and enjoy our minute long trailer. More antics coming soon...

-Cody Sanders

Wow. I'm glad to see so much discussion surrounding this trailer. That's cool. I guess there's just one point I'd like to make. All the people on here talking about "professionalism" should at least learn basic grammar and spelling. Here's a quick lesson:
There are three different kinds of the word "to." There's "to:" as in "to be." There's "two" as in the number. It states a quantity. Finally, there's the often misused or completely ignored "too" as in an abundance or used to replace the word "also."
I would go over "there," "their," and "they're," but I'm afraid I've lectured enough for one day. The point is, everyone should check themselves before pointing fingers. Hope you all enjoy the trailer. If not, like Cody said, go watch something else.

this is a sport? haha

Because spelling rollerblading "Bl8ing" is so much more professional.

June 07th, 2011 @ 13:50 - by Oscar Oscar

Most respect to Pat Leal and his amazing talent in portraying Bl8ing.
Regarding the clips, these edits are as weak as the boring trends that shape this sport. 10 years ago the trend was to look more gangster than Snoop Dogg, nowadays the trend is to look more hipster than Lady Gaga (she makes me puke by the way). All these trends are bullshit and mess around with the real essence of Bl8ing, which by the way, as any other sport, requires to be and appear as professional as possible in order to survive.
Believe me, behind that image of rebelliousness that sk8boarding or bmxing showcase, there is a whole consortium of marketing and finance professionals that makes them look that way.

I understood what Cody was trying to say about by this paragraph... & many youth could def read into it too much... Basically, he is saying quit the politickin bs and just blade. I grew up as a litte kid* listening to DMX, 2PAC, Master P and all other types of crap I think are pretty ridiculous right now except for 2pac cause he was an OG... if little kids want role models... their parents should teach them manners, not bladers unless you are some kind of Mother Teresa*. If you are above 18, I think you can decide what you want to do with your health, for the better or worse! OH, & Arlo def influenced me on the counter-culture tip when I started skating, but many grommets nowadays wouldn't understand that in depth. Supporting "Angry Youth"

Stay tuned for this:
CITY NEVER SLEEPS
SHOCK VIDEO

P.S. I think we all know that the riders Razor's sponsers in TX don't come off as douches...

TK...Don't take this as hate. I've never met you but Cody is tight and I've talked with him a lil about this. I think there are a few things you need to realize.

"beating your meat to the newest razors update"
Why the hate for Razors? You can dislike some of their skaters, but you shouldn't brand them as wack simply b/c a few ppl you don't like. For all the stuff you don't like, realize that Geoff has strong TX roots and always holds down some of TX's best. Yeager, Freunscht, Glowicki, Fritz...those are just some of the guys skating for Razors from TX right now. They're certainly not wack and I think they make Razors look good.

"sorry that tainted youth doesn’t consist of huge ass hurricane top souls"
Nothing wrong with hurricane topsouls. I wish I could do em.

"our mommies and daddies don’t spoil us with the latest HD cameras therefore our videos aren’t 'PROFESSIONAL.'"
Some ppl, in fact I'd say most legit videographers today, paid for their HD cam with their hard-earned money. Certainly one day everybody will upgrade to HD and when that time comes, you'll look back at the times you said "fuck hd" and realize how silly it was. Y'all got a 3 chip...maybe there's a kid out there claiming VHS-C is where it's at...you know...hah.

hahahahahahaha, man it's getting a little to wild in here hahaa

June 06th, 2011 @ 18:37 - by TK TK

a highlife sounds pretty damn good about right now, fuck kids looking up to this shit were not trying to be role models dumb ass were trying to make a video. this isn’t what were trying to be its who we are and how we live every day. fuck you guys and your shit talk because i don’t see any footage of you on be-mag, rollernews, vimeo... etc. man the fuck up and get the whole idea of “proper rollerblading” out of your head, beating your meat to the newest razors update. and sorry that tainted youth doesn’t consist of huge ass hurricane top souls and that our mommies and daddies don’t spoil us with the latest HD cameras therefore our videos aren’t “PROFESSIONAL.” but please, continue with the shit talk it makes me lulz

June 06th, 2011 @ 16:36 - by yea rite yea rite

Thank god for professional videos because this shows no quality once so ever and with out quality its quantity and our sport doesn't need any more of this polluted bs. Maybe you and your friends can't put anything professional out so you claim rebel status

June 06th, 2011 @ 15:38 - by Kabookie Kabookie

i'm glad that your motivated to make edits and whatnot. i've skated since i could walk... to this day i have never filmed nor taken a picture of myself skating. thats real. and please don't talk to me about life in a small town.
It was you who put down others to try to instill some standard of "cool". homie don't play that shit.

you need to understand this: there are little kids who look up to people in your position. they don't need to be taught that "sitting back and grabbing a high life" is the thing to do.

that wall of text you're referring is only about 7 sentences.

June 06th, 2011 @ 15:15 - by Cody Sanders Cody Sanders

Hey that's cool that you wrote a wall of text and all.
I think you missed the point, by taking what i wrote to serioiusly. just skate man. we aren't trying to look like anything, we've been doing this for years, this is just what skating is like for us. it's not "played", thats just what life looks like in a small town, haha.
So.. chill man, haha. Go watch something else if that's what you're into.

June 06th, 2011 @ 10:44 - by Kabookie Kabookie

whaaaat! you guys really do live on the fringes of society. im glad you're hip to low fidelity, but shits played my friend, so is trying to make alcoholism cool. i wish all of you would stab yourselves in the face.

anti-culture vibe? i rollerblade because it's my love, not for some deviant label.
captain sociology throwing around fake wannabe jargon. i got a few words for you to look: dramaturgical approach/presentation of self/impression management.

stop trying to proselytize the youth of our sport with your poser bullshit. I miss Shane Coburn...

p.s. the conan the barbarian clip at the end of the razors edits is one of the hypest quotes i've ever heard.
