Recently, we had a chance to sit down with Brian Aragon in Encinitas, CA and discuss his involvement with rollerblading in the X-Games this year. He has been working diligently with X-mini towards the goal of bringing skating back into an X-Games spotlight and gaining what many feel is some long overdue publicity. X-mini, a company who has sponsored events like the Chaz Sands Invitational, FISE and Winterclash, approached Brian in Shanghai at Asian X-Games to discuss the possibility of getting him and a team involved to some capacity with X-Games 17. Without hesitation this idea quickly got rolling into what could be the next big break for rollerblading.
For the full story on this watch the interview below and stay tuned, as Be-Mag will be providing live updates over the weekend as this all unfolds!

I must say the most important thing for us to do as a whole is stay positive and support our fellow rollers whom are out there trying to push our sport in a direction that will in time help our sport grow. Say what you want but x-games=money, and in our small blading world we could use that. We could use it to take care of our pros who are out there literally for the love, and not to mention all the companies that would benifit from the exposure allowing them to put there product out there on a larger scale. STAY POSITIVE our community is to small for hate......

Chillagon saves blading...
Uh, hmmm. Don't know if want...
I love blading, I would like to see it grow. X-games though?
Last time a few people gave a really bad, unprofessional impression of blading. Look how long it took for us to get back.
Picture this...
Rolling gets back in the X-games. JBah and Rachard are competing. JBah slaps a random bitch, and acts like a fucking dick like usual. Richard steals some Tony Hawk money from Ryan Shecklers backpack.
Rolling is once again a pariah, loses respect and gets booted again, never to be allowed in again due to the unprofessional behavior of a select few of our top athletes.
Then rolling would really die. Nobody would invest, as it would have no future.
I know its a bit overdramatized, but I honestly don't think rolling is ready.

"The next big break in rollerblading..." Uh, no. The sport had a wonderful opportunity in the 1990s to be promoted. Believe it or not, skateboarding and rollerblading was on a somewhat even keel, but the people at the top of various rollerblading organizations and companies did not capitalize on the opportunity given, hence the state of the sport today.

I'd be even better if it wasn't 3 razors and 2 Valo skaters representing so that people could see that there really is a diversity in rollerblading unlike skateboarding where you can't pick the one from the other because they look so much alike. It's definitely the best people to represent the sport but a bit more diversity would be good for the line-up!
