Jojo Jacobi is beginning to beat the drums for Winterclash 2012, which will take place at Area 51 Skatepark in Eindhoven, Netherlands, a location proven to be worthy for all that it has embraced. Be-Mag has been a media partner of Winterclash since its inception. This won't change in 2012 as we will continue to support the world's biggest rollerblading contest, covering the event live from Eindhoven, bringing you every moment in its greatest capacity. We recently sat down with founder Jojo Jacobi to get his personal thoughts and impressions on the past seven Winterclash events. What are his best memories and what are his worst? Who are the picks for Jojo's top three Winterclash competitors of all time? This and more, is what he discloses in the following article. On top of that you have a chance at winning a ticket to Winterclash 2012!

Top three Winterclash moments:
#1: Winterclash 2010: When Sven Boekhorst landed his 450 Farv to Topsoul and the Dutch Crowd started a wild party. That was the only moment I stopped worrying about our future with the event and personal wise. Really intense and made all the trouble worth it.
#2: Winterclash 2011: I was up in the tree house "DJ-ing" for a second and had fun with the Dutch buddies and then my very close friend Dominik (Wagner) started to flow the park and I realized that there is a possibility that he might win this whole thing. I was so hyped this moment and couldn’t stop smiling. I got so excited that I almost fell down the stairs on my way down.
#3: Winterclash 2007: Michael Leibner won the Amateur competition that year. I grew up and started skating with him and we went on our first travels and shows together. I was in the middle of the crowd and was screaming like everybody else. Intense moment because also the Event MC this year was Martin Deile who was teaching us to blade back in the day. For a second it felt like "the City of Dresden is ruling the Rolling world!"
Three worst Winterclash moments:
#1: Winterclash 2010: It was Friday evening. The facility manager came into our production office and showed me the numbers of Weekend Passes and Day Tickets we sold this first day. Even though I knew it before, I still had hope till this moment. But when he showed me the numbers it was the first time that I could see on paper that the coming few years for me personally would be fucked! I can’t even describe the feeling I had. Having everybody telling us how sick the event is, and at the same time knowing that we fucked up big time.
Winterclash 2010 was held in a big arena in Berlin and the original plan was to attract a huge non rolling crowd. Loads of promotion was done all over the city and the event production itself was also way more expensive as the events in the past years. In the end "only" the same amount of Rollerbladers like every year showed up, but not many other people. That’s why the organization lost loads of money.
#2: Winterclash 2009: After everything was over, I was functioning the whole time while everything was running. The fire, the move to Eindhoven and the event itself… Everything was going according to plan – as much as it can in such a situation. But a couple of minutes after everybody left the skatepark I had a break down and it hit me so hard that I couldn’t walk, talk or do anything for at least an hour. Thanks to the people who helped and cheered me up in this moment!
In 2009 the original event venue in Belgium burned down just one day before the event was supposed to happen. Winterclash got moved to Eindhoven, Netherlands and in the end the event went down without many problems.
#3: Winterclash 2008: I got a call from the local hospital and the main doctor was asking me what kind of event it is that we are having. He just had a guy with a possibly broken back, but before he could check him, the guy walked away again because he wanted to be at the event. Couple of minutes later he had a girl with an Ecstasy overdose (that’s what he assumed) walking out of the hospital through a closed glass door. Just some minutes later somebody told me that some skaters burned down a car in front of a hotel the night before and just in that very moment we had a couple of hundred people too many in the building according the German law. In that moment I felt like we totally lost control and I was so scared that something really bad would happen. Luckily it didn’t!
Top three Winterclash competitors that attended the event often and amazed you:
That’s a first place tie:
#1: Erik Bailey: Every year up for a great show. Never chilling too much at competitions. True professional!
#2: Brian Aragon: Every year up for a great show. Never chilling too much at competitions. True professional!
#3: Matthias Silhan: There since day one and always up for some good skating with a smile on his face! Always happy to see him at our events!

Top three Winterclash quotes:

#2: »So many people out there, showing you that Rollerblading is far from being dead!« -Mike 'Murda' Johnson
#3: »I tell you to make an effort at least one time, because it’s definitely a once in the lifetime experience. It’s going to be worth it« -Chris Haffey

I assume the contest is over but the best moment ever, on the Winterclash was definitely in 2010, when I convinced my friend Ben Jezek to run half naked on the street area, I offered him five bucks he didn´t want to do it at the beginning, so I asked my friends if they'll give him too five bucks to see him run naked, everybody was like hell yeah! I think Aragon landed an awesome trick everybody was going crazy, then it was like quiet for seconds and I saw my friend running to the funbox, doing a five forty and running back, with a big smile on his face. Of course he got the money and we all had a beer after that. Berlin was really a great atmosphere a lot of fun, crazy stunts, and cool cats!!! It's sad to know that on a financial perspective it wasn´t so successful as expected. But anyway props to Jojo for this awesome experience!

Site wont let me register... so heres my story anyway:
Me and my friends met 2 guys from South Korea and hung out with them the whole time in 2011, a few months later I found myself on a plane headed for Korea. Although we had only been around each other for 3 days we instantly connected and I was invited for a 2 week stay with the family of one of the guys. Of course I brought my blades too and I simply had the best trip of my life so far and many new friends, thank you for this opportunity Jojo :)

Brelin 2010, i can't pick a single moment as the best one, for me the whole weekend is one best memory of the winterclash. We drove nearly 1000km to get there. first to my parents who looked after our at the time 1 1/2 year old son and enabled us to go and then on to berlin!!In berlin me and my girl hooked up with my cousin who i started skating with back in the days and one of my best friends who i started rolling with again after a short break. Both of them moved to berlin not long before the clash. It was one of the best weekends i have ever had, the atmosphere was amazing the level of riding was mad and the smile on my face couldn't have been bigger. The only thing that would have made the comp even better would be seeing it in a skatepark and being in Holland!!!

Sweet interveiw! Winterclash 2008 I was the girl in hospital with the susspected extacy o.d! If you remember in the comp I got knocked out trying a gap to true mizou on the rail. After I stopped skating and watched the rest of the contest while sipping a couple, later that evenening I went to the afterparty and continued drinking/smoking and before I knew it I had 2 seaizures! I was at the park in an ambulance for a while where I seizured then was unresponsive. Next thing I know I wake up in hospital with I.v's in my arms and no one is about, I called for help but no one came so I ripped the i.v's out and looked for a doc. Walked about the whole place and saw no one and when I found the exit it was locked! So me being smart kicked the glass door till it broke and got out. Walked around in the snow wondering where the fuck I was but within 10 mins cops showed up and arrested me for the door! I tried explaining but there was a huge language barrier, I was yelled at in German for the next 3 hours in a police station till they took me to my hotel which I somehow located and they took down my passport info. Went straight to hospital when I got back to England and stayed there a few days with brain swelling then flew back to cali. Didn't hear anything about it till my parrents visited last summer and told me they were fined 1500 for the door! Great winterclash times! Also I'm still stoked on that 3 topsoul I did on the gap to rail in 2007. Thanks for Winterclash Jojo! Hope to make it out to another someday
