Connections Skateshop started as an idea for Me and my mother after having run a skatepark since 1997. You see, running a skatepark is rugged. There's about a million things that have to be done everyday, and they're all very dirty jobs. So after having endured years of running a shop already on top of all the other responsibility that comes with running a park, we figured life may be a little easier without having to move 500 pound ramps everyday. After taking 5 years to figure this out, Connections Skateshop was born in September 2002.
Now its 2003 and we've just rounded off our first year here at Connections. Me (Lonnie G.), my mother (Loretta), and my good friend (Anthony Nates) pretty much handle all the day to day jobs. Anthony and myself both being skaters really helps when doing things as well. I myself can pretty much ghetto rig anything, while Anthony is down to do any odd-job you might give him that day. As for Loretta, she pretty much just knows everything thats going on with the shop. And even though she doesn't skate, she knows more about what's going on in the roller world than i do.
Aside from the people who run the shop we also have a great team of rollers to represent what were about. The team is Jason Howard(austin, tx), Frank Stoner(austin, tx), Michael Stein(dallas,tx), John Sullivan(dallas, tx), Matt Moya(salt lake, ut), and the energizer crackhead, Chris Fleener(houston, tx). So feel free to pester these guys and ask them for connections stickers.
Now that we've covered the past, i may as well try and cover the future, even though the future is a myth. And In our mythical future we have a website that is fully functional. So you can build custom skates and see them, and get a price before you decide to purchase, then you could even buy them. Wow. Also, were gonna try and sponsor more contests because they are a good place for people to meet, have fun, and maybe even come home with some free junk. Other that our plans for the future are to just stay open, help out new and old rollers alike to keep our small little culture alive.
You can check us out online at www.ConnectionsSkateshop.com or give us a ring at 512.828.3032. You can even chat with one of us employees through aim at Rollaconnections. So don't be scared to give us a try because there's no question too silly or anything we wont try and fix.
