J Bah has always been linked to the music world in blading, whether it be him rappin' behind the mic, producing beats in his room or shredding sections to smooth sounds in your favourite videos. We caught up with him and asked him to give us some insight into his musical mind.

What is the first memory of music within the scope of the Rollerblading culture?

That would have to be when i was on DipSkate. It was a skate team put together by Jim Jones and Juels Santana from DipSet. It was the first and only time something like that was ever done. It gave us the oportunity to be in music videos, magazines, and TV. They also sent the team out to Winterclash one year and had us rappin at the after party. And that was the first time i saw clearly skating and music coexist.

Which music has influenced you the most through skating?

I used to really be into rock music, lots of Korn, Nirvana, Slipknot, stuff like that. Then i started listening to rap around when Eminem came out. I liked him a lot, The Chronic 2001, Lil' Wayne lights out, Jay Z and my style has definintely been influenced by all of these people.

What music do you listen to when you want to get juiced for a big trick and why?

Oddly enough, as much as i love music, i never really use it to get juiced for skating. For big tricks i need deep breathing and concentration.

Which videos do you think have the best soundtrack?

All the B Unique videos.

What are your iPod/iPhone’s most listened to tracks?

I love skating to nice, smooth, melodic stuff. Drake, Weeknd, Frank Ocean etc...

What's your top song to skate to?

"Make it better", by yours truly.

If 1 is Rock and 10 is Hip Hop where do you sit on that scale?

Right around 5 or 6.

How do you listen to music when skating?

I can't stand headphones when i'm skating so either a car stereo or X-Mini speakers in the streets, and loud speakers at the skate park.

Which song do you connect the greatest memories to and why?

Flashy lights, Kanye West. She knows why...

..... yeah but.... bah really has no musical talent..... or taste.... hate, from a place of love... I'm smiling right now... Arn't you a little old for net sparring?

The bit after the credits.

"way to make yourselves look like morons... Bah has no musical talent or taste, why not interview a five year old about politics while you're at it..."

^That's not criticism .. that is you defining hating.. no amount of banter and intellectualism is going to change that. It's not that big of a deal, you were hating. Then you go on to give constructive criticism based on your own morals. You projecting what I think is good or not is funny at best, but enjoy your little tirade direct at Bah and then me.

,,, stick that in your needle and slam it;)

Really, not a big deal.

The end.

...Though I will say Bah is one of the best skaters of all time. He can do things no-one else can, his skating is unique, well-thought out and most importantly evolves perfectly... his tricks never seem dated and he has stayed fresh and relevant through more eras than most. Every section he puts out has some WTF never been done tricks and vatriations. I would like to see HIS SKATING get the respect it deserves rather than yet another half-troll-intented, hater-baiting article focussing on his music or so-called annoying behaviour or anything other than his one undeniable talent.... ...put that 'hate' in your pipe and smoke it ;)

December 29th, 2012 @ 18:02 - by KICKBALLZ KICKBALLZ

'Haters' a term created by coke paranoid late 90's rappers in order to avoid coming to terms with criticism, absolutely meaningless phrase... Bahs music promotes ego, consumerism and objectification of people... No depth, no sense of musical skill and completly de-evolutionary (or backward for dumbasses) Stop sucking the dick of everything rollerblading related and have some standards if you give a shit about this culture.

^haters gonna hate... you don`t have to understand or agree with all of something to respect it... some people just never grown up and revel in cynicism and finger pointing. I would of enjoyed better questions and more in depth answers here but a great break from the monotony, thanks for sharing.
