Roskilde - a fairly big city in Denmark - is known for its ancient viking rule and the Roskilde Music festival that attracts around 100.000 visitors every year. Last sunday, it was another phenomenon yet unseen in Roskilde, that hit the city. The Scandinavian real street tour was supposed to hit Roskilde Saturday, June 4th but because of some proper Danish rain weather, the competition was postponed for the next day, where we had around 2 minutes of sun. So in order to stay warm, people needed to skate - and they sure did.

Spot one was the Trekroner ledges that was also spot one at the real street finals in Denmark last year. The spot is amazing. Until you see it in real life, you wouldn't think you were in Denmark, but rather in sunny California the home of perfect spots. The spot is around 15 ledges that are all similar: little over knee high and around 6m long (18ft). To top it off, they are smooth as s&#t. So it's really a great spot for skating lines. Some really technical switch-ups went down here although I can't remember half of them just that Stefan Horngacher and old Roces pro Tom Ahlqvist were killing these ledges with their incredible speed, and Jacob Juul with his fullcab grinds.

The second spot was a long (18m) flat rail - basically a switch-up rail. Some of the skaters that barely made it on to round two were rail skaters - so it was their time to shine here. Memorable tricks were Henrik Jensens Royale to alleyoop topsoul to royale, Kåre Lindberg and Jacob Juul's Toppornstar to truespin toppornstar. It was especially Palle Skovhede that killed this rail - even in the warm- ups he killed the rail unlike everybody else - doing the entire rail almost every try. Some of his tricks included topsoul budget truespin mistrial, topacid to true mizou and the likes. I thought the skating that had happened this day had been crazy, but compared to the finals, it was nothing. The final spot at the viking- ship museum that has some downwards going ledges with a drop of about 3-4 meters. First we got kicked out of the spot, but got permission to come back because the museum closed in an hour.

So we all waited and I guess this break got the minds of the finalists going on what tricks they wanted to do, as some pretty sick stuff went on. First, the basic tricks went down, but as everybody had done their fishbrains, topsouls and royales down the ledge, it was time for some more action. Jacob Juul started off with a backside savannah, and then shortly after with a 450 backside royale! Stefan Horngacher, who won last weeks Stockholm real street, now put on some extra speed and energy in hope to take the title. After some tries, he fs fahrvergnuegened the flat part to spun 270 into a backside royale (alleyoop royale... if you can call it that) on the steep part with lots of speed. Seth Nicolas answered with an alleyoop fishbrain and shortly after that, he laid down a fullcab alleyoop pornstar. To ensure his victory, Jacob Juul decided to do a 450 backside fahvergnugen on the ledges. Michael Nielsen tried to pudslide the curb, but lost his balance and landed right on this back, hope you're doing better now?

Jacob Juul took the victory before Austrian powerhouse Stefan Horngacher. Seth Nicolas got third with his fullcab alleyoop topporn. Thanks to everybody for a cold, yet great day in Roskilde. Hope to see as many of you in Esbjerg, Denmark (close to the border of Germany) on June 18th. Thanks to Ignition-skateshop as well as the Powerslide conference (Deshi, USD, Kizer, Stygma, Sifika, and Undercover) for sponsoring the event!
