ace the Music is the first Roces team video. With the new image of the company there also needs to be something done to promote it to the masses. And what would do the job better than a DVD? The cover and the main menu fit the M12's, they are simple but functional and stylish.

It is the ultimate rock release of the year; that should be pretty clear to everyone. If this was not the case it would be as if AC/DC recorded a hip-hop album. If you have a look at the team you know there was no other way to choose the soundtrack for this DVD.

Some people claim that with this new rock trend, tricks are getting lame. Anyone who thinks this should at least give this DVD a try because it will most possibly change your mind. Yes, you may be right that there are spots which would perhaps not have made it into a DVD some time ago. But the things the skaters do at these spots look cool and are not easy to do. Besides this let me just mention one more thing. What really counts is the fun you have while you rollerblade and you can see that these guys are definitely enjoying what they do.

The intro shows a couple of pro skaters like Brandon Campbell or Micah Yeager going nuts. What was a real pleasure for me was to see Switzerland 's Jona Messerli because he is the king of style and control. I have never seen anyone skate like Jona and some of his friends from the Swiss Connection. Also Jeremy Beightol, the designer of the new 4x4 line should ring a bell. The song which was chosen really fits the style of the skaters.

Mike Lilly starts of the main part of the DVD with a great section. Ever since this new style came up Lilly seems to get more and more popular. He's got a unique style, and I'm not talking about his clothing I'm talking about the whole way he skates. Everything looks so fluid. Creativity is another one of his strengths. And if my eyes didn't cheat on me I saw him skate a BMX dirt-ramp at some point.

Oli Short is next to bust out. Right now he probably is the most famous European skater. Pretty much all of his section was filmed in Europe . A lot of his tricks are really creative. But this is not all Oli has to offer, he also, for example, does a Fifty-Fifty on one of the burliest curved drop rails you can imagine.

Casey Bagozzi is showcased in the next section. Not only his clothes are different form those of the other team members. He definitely does some unbelievably sick tricks like a Fakie 360 AO Top Acid on a ledge and some really sick combos. Everything he does looks so easy and he seems to really know what he's doing. But all these things can't change the fact that his section is the only one which I didn't really enjoy. To me it seems as if his arms aren't attached to his body. They fly around everywhere. But some of the people I discussed this with (for example Valo's Gabriel Hyden) disagreed with me. They told me that he skates really laid back and that his skating is extremely stylish.

Charles Dunkle is tough! He doesn't care if things move while he's grinding them, he doesn't care about grind killers and he definitely doesn't care about taking hard falls. In his section he does some gaps which I consider to be more than just sick. If you would show them to any fair skateboarder or snowboarder they couldn't disagree that they are off the hook. Charles has been there for a long time and is still rolling stronger than most other people.

Even tough this DVD is not as long as Black Market it is still worth buying. I'm in the position to say this because I bought it myself and I don't regret it. To be honest I have not heard of anyone so far that regretted buying this DVD. So perhaps if you don't already posses it you should give it a chance.

Face the Music is definitely the release to go for if you buy into the whole rock trend. When I first watched the DVD I was really surprised by the great skating and the nice flow of the video. The whole team kills it, each with a unique style and some very creative skating. I really suggest getting this video for your collection because it offers a whole new perspective on skating. The only thing I could criticise is the length of the movie. With only 22 minutes and some bonus material it's rather short but hey ? live fast, die young hahah
