Feet by Lonnie Gallegos has got a very interesting cover. It’s colour is very bright and the design is really simple. But don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that this is a turndown. I actually think that the design is a good means to distinguish this DVD from all the other recent releases, because it really burns itself into your mind.
Let’s just have a look at the backside of the cover. It says that this DVD features Chris Farmer, Dustin Latimer, Rob G, J.C. Rowe, Matt Moya, John Sullivan and others. In my opinion this sounds very promising. But what is more important than the cover of a DVD is the content.
The introduction includes tricks of the profiled riders and some of their friends. John Sullivan, of whom I have never heard, has got the first section on the DVD. One of the things he shows is that you can also have fun with capped rails. You can also witness that he doesn’t care if someone calls the cops, he will still skate until you can already hear them coming.
Robert Guerrero’s section starts with some creative tricks. He has got a nice little conversation with a bench and does some tricks for it on it. I think Robert Guerrero can skate anything. He skates some creative spots and shows that he did not fall off since his IMYTA victories some years ago. What comes next is the Matt Moya’s section. All that I have seen of him so far are a few pictures and clips. But after watching his section I can’t believe I haven’t seen more from this guy. His skating looks so solid and controlled.
What will be presented to you during the next section are tons of renowned skaters like Brandon Campbell, Randy Spizer, Mike French, Chris Haffey and Chase Rushing. Chase does one of the sweetest Backslides I have ever seen as well as an unbelievable wheelie down some stairs.
The mix section is followed by the Dustin Latimer part. I can’t really imagine rollerblading without the influence of this guy. He is one of the people who are in for the long run. Even tough he is no longer skating like he used to skate back in the day his section’s still sick. In fact he doesn’t skate any worse than he did. The skating’s just different and rollerblading in general and what is acceptable for rollerbladers has changed. If this confused you somehow, then just keep in mind that he has got some first-class tricks up his sleeves.
Lonnie also talks about skaters having their earphones in their ears all the time which seems to be pretty popular nowadays. After this “excurse” Lonnie puts in a section of earphone-skater #1 aka JC Rowe. If you have seen Killerboots you know what I’m talking about. I think Haffey and JC are one of the reasons why you see so many I-Pods in skate parks. I think that JC is one of the most stylish skaters besides Farmer and very few others. His skating looks so effortless and plain beautiful. There are probably people around that would kill just to be able to copy his style.
Well, what is left to say about Chris Farmer after his section in Bang!? What could be interesting for you is that this section is not as mystical as his section in the Mindgame team DVD! There is no doubt that his skating is top-notch. Just imagine a 360 Inspin Sweaty which is done switch and natural. If that is not enough for you he can still top it with a perfect Fullcab AO Topsoul on a ledge!
So go and have fun with your own copy of Feet!

shut the fuck up you HD fags. A high def rollerblade video was way to premature for your broke asses. I'd compromise a twenty dollar quality buy over a video that requires a two thousand dollar TV any day.
..buy me a HD television and i will tell you black market is good.

still waiting on your review of the dvd! as we said we would be happy to have another opinion on the dvd also from your technical point of view. this would also help us with bringing out content.

yeah but it seems that they care don´t they? so why shouldn´t they be informed if the video has quality standarts or not!
March 10th, 2006 @ 09:47 - by Michael_B
cuz hd is all the hype now. every big consumer electronic company is marketing it like crazy. people know that hd means good quality. they've seen the x-box commercials, the sony high definition screens, the canon cameras, in the states the football games that are now shot in high definition and so on.
it's like the time when people switched from regular tapes to mini dv tapes. it was a sales argument back then if you filmed your stuff with a digital cam because the quality difference was visible.

then, tell my why everybody is like "DUUUUDE, have you seen black market, it´s 1080i and shit, DOUG ´s THE MAN! !" why do they even talk about a videographer when they do not know anything about filming? so lui, 1:0 for me!

Gape, about 95% of the people that read this review know less about editing and filiming than you. Most of them are just normal viewers. So this is why I think that a lot of people are less interested in the technical stuff than in how a "normal" guy feels when he watches this DVD...
I have to agree with you that I don't know to much about editing and filiming, but I strongly disagree with you when you say that this is a less professional approach.

At least the guy who makes the review could talk about the editing. When nearly every video is overedited anyway, somebody should say if it is good or not... but this is starting to get longer than an interview!haha!

Gape, if you want to write a second review about the video you're welcome, we'll post it along with Lui's.

as i said in my post, a video is not ONLY defined by the filming and editing, but also by the vibe, the whole feeling, who is in it and how the general approach is. that is why i think you dont necessarilyl need an editor or a filmer to write it, because it is interesting for the reader to get a perspective from a viewers standpoint.
what we are also trying to do with all the dvd releases, is to do a background story with the filmmakers (that's currently in work for genre and hyphy2) since they add another approach and perspective to this and of course trailers. ultimately it is interesing to see all different perspectives so that the reader can have his / her own view on the video.
this is an approach that is professional, because it is unbiased and shows different views. this is what we try to do. with this comment function you now have the opportunity to also voice your opinion adding yet another perspective. we will also enhance these functions!

"i think it is not necessarily important that you have someone write the reviews who is actually filming or editing."
thats the point, nobody knows, nobody cares.... but yes i´m intersted in doing that!

i think it is not necessarily important that you have someone write the reviews who is actually filming or editing. if you read reviews of cinema movies 99 percent of the people writing this dont edit or dont film. there are 2 approaches to a review, one approach that talks about the tecnique (filming and editing) and one approach that shows what is happening in the movie. over the years we made the experience that people actually enjoyed a lot more to read about the actual film because there is not that much you can say about the filming and editing. either it is good or not.
but i agree with you that it needs to be talked about and we will see that this also happens with the future reviews. if you want you can also write a little something for all the reviews we do. interested?

Lui, you know i´m a friend of you, a friend of your dedication to rollerblading but PLEASE, can somebody please stop letting people who have nothing to do with filming or editing writing reviews about videos?! I mean seriously, all those reviews are just about the guys who are in there and what they are doing...* thats what makes rollerblading so unprofessionell these days....*
