FastslideBruno Löwe started skating about ten years ago and has made his way from a unknown German ripper to one of the most successful skaters in Rollerblading. When I think about Bruno I remember that he was on all these great teams, like: Razors, the Senate Kill Team (he was the only german skater receiving a Senate Prowheel), K2 and now Rollerblade + Grindhouse. During his long visits to the US Bruno started to skate big parks like Woodward and fell in love with bowlskating. There's few skaters who can match his skills. Just watch him cruise a bowl fakie and see how effortlessly he does the biggest flatspins or some highspeed fastslides.

By the way Bruno is the only german skater ever that won the X-Games! He literally has no fear and he has so much skill with everything he does - be it skating, snowboarding or skiing which makes him a true athlete. I witnessed him snowboard this winter after skiing for the last couple of years and he seriously killed it.

This year Bruno will be on some tours and even though injuries (especially to the knees) have taken their toll I know that we will see a lot from him. Be on the lookout.

Question: You are skating for Grindhouse now, how is it to be in the team? How does it feel to skate in maybe the best European team (with Mathias Silhan, Daniel Prell, ...) ?

It’s something completely new for me since I have never skated for a shop before. Until now I was only sponsored by skate companies like Senate. What’s cool are the team travels that you undertake.

Q: Is there a new Colorvideo DVD coming out?

Organising tours has always been our goal and we’ve been doing this for the last six years. Unfortunately we lacked the funds to come out with a DVD after the last two tours. Hopefully we will be able to raise enough money this year so we can release a DVD.

Q: I know you’re still doing your thing in Germany, but will you ever plan to break out in the United States again like you did when you were on the Kill team?

Sure i will come back to the states, if only for the concrete bowls that can be found on every corner. I’m not sure however when this will be.

Q: What would you do for rolling if you were rich ?

I’d buy a huge estate and build a park so big you’d be able to see it from space.

180

Q: How come there’s no Bruno Löwe pro model? I think I have seen you skating pretty much since the beginning…

We have planned this for a long time now but every time something got in the way. We’ll see, maybe it will still happen.

Q: Did you learn all your flips in a foam pit or are you more the trial&error kinda guy?

I learned most of the flips in the park though I attempted some into the water without skates.

Q: What has kept you motivated to keep skating after getting seriously injured?

When I tore my cruciate ligaments twice, i couldn’t skate for like 3 months but afterwards I was so much more motivated. To me the longer I have to pause, the bigger the motivation to start again.

Q: How did you actually start skating?

Back in the day I would play streethockey in the metro. On my way to the station there was a park and I’d start spending more and more time on the ramps.

Q: Why do you like riding fakie so much..?

Most people can’t actually roll straight properly left alone fakie Whoever takes skating seriously can turn left and right, go fakie and turn around again both directions. Only if you can do that, you can really skate park. Kids should really learn to roll before they attempt combos on rails.

Q: What`s up with Marc Dubied`s skatepark?

Marc’s park was never approved because we couldn’t convince them that it was a private association. Thus we had to disassemble the park after 4 months…

Be-mag would like to thank Bruno Löwe for taking the time and answering these questions.

bruno is, has been, and always will be better than me at rollerblading (the tru fish he does on the wood guardrail at hackettstown skatepark in vg13 is fucking absurd), HOWEVER, i'd slay him on a snowboard haha

more people need to skate bowls the way Bruno does cuz it's so amazing and whole other side of rollerblading that I think most people in the U.S. are neglecting. Bruno rides fakie better than anyone I have ever seen, just go to his website and watch.
