Whenever there is something important going on in Europe, it has something to do with Brussels, but when you think about skating there nobody knows anything about this city.

Adil Farhouni : Ao fish

So the Grindhouse Team decided to go there for one stop in 2006, because there is also one Flowrider from Belgium – Bruno Willemarck. That was not really our first stop in Belgium, during our „Surprise Tour“ we did a stop there on the way from Amsterdam to Paris and Daniel Prell puked his stomach out next to the highway.

When organizing the Lineup this time, Daniel had a lot of problems coordinating the team, as there are different other comps and tours at the moment such as the comp in Copenhagen, the Balkan Tour and a comp in the I-Punkt skateland in Hamburg. Additionally Alex Rudolf had problems with his back, the infamous Lepszy Spritzer is on holidays (intimpopoly reggae party) and Möly dislocated his finger on the last tourstop. At the end the Lineup consisted of Ogger, Bruno Willemarck, Adil Farhouni and the Grindhouse Secret weapon Tobias Wollman aka Wolli.....

Ogger and I arrived on friday, so we decided to do some sightseeing as our hotelroom was not that big. We came out of the hotel with our raincoats on as it was pissing the shit out of heaven. In the ending of our little shopping and sightseeing session we went to the Atomium (a ferrum cristal 165 billion times extracted) and to a big party at the Grand Place. They put some flowers on the ground all over the place, this happens in August all two years....was really cute, I did some pics for my grandma who will love it.

After this cultural program we tried to find a party, but we didn´t, so we had so much fun in a Salsa Club that we left at one in the morning. Ok the advantage of bad Parties is you can get up the next morning and get the breakfast in the hotel. This time the buffet was even worth it. After this we met with Adil, Behnisch, Wolli and all the brussels at the central station and it was a real wonder as it didn´t start raining!!!!!

We were so happy the fucking whole weekend, the forecast was really bad and we had sun, can you imagine how good we all felt about this. But not only the weather was good, even the Locals were so kind to us and we really had a bunch of fun with them, especially JJ wo became our Taxi all over the weekend. (Adil: „No not meet he come here pick us up!“) The first spot was a skatepark in the city which is a really funny warmup place to meet and wait for others. Ogger showed some nice long grinds, spingrinds and a nice 180 gap there. Before we did a spotchange one of the locals did a real nice bs farf to savannah rail transfer and stuff like this on a really sketchy rail.

We came up to one of the nice ledges they have all over brussels ans even before I started to manage my camera equipment Ogger busted the first negative acid on the ledge, followed by Adil with some easy true mistrial – I´m so glad that our filmer is lazy sometimes and didn´t get them either, so they had to do that stuff again. The session became really nice and so we ended on the right side of the ledge with tricks like inspin 450 backroyals by Wolli and switched to the left side of the spot. There was one of the ugliest landings I´ve ever seen, it was some stairs with piss, shit, blood and sunglasses on it – bäh! I´m sure they killed somebody with ugly

sunglasses there and pissed on his dead body (I´m not kidding about that....)

Ok so Adil killed the spot with a really nice ao fish and by this time the nightshifter Bruno Willemarck showed up with 3 hours of sleep, 270 back fully and ao topsoul. Ok let´s go and get some food, maybe some Dürüm – 3 times a day. I need to eat only salads and fruits the next two weeks to shit all that stuff out again.
For the next location the guys brought us to one of the few kinkrails in Belgium to see if Ogger can maybe top the tricks already done there, hmmm I´m not so sure about it but I think he did, as everybody really freaked out when he lazed a nearly perfect bs savannah all way down (after doing a half frontflip to rips out before).
Pushed and highly motivated Bruno Willemarck stole himself away to checkout a gap around, it was a jump over a fence with pillows on it, the startup was so bad that you could easily loose control at the jump and die on them. After Bruno´s first try Wolli somehow smelled the Adrenaline and so they motivated each other to do it, Wolli muted 180 second try and Bruno needed some more tries but then he had a bloody pizza all over his ass and a landed mute 180, too.

Just around the corner of this spot was the European Committee where we tried to show up and skate, but somehow the securities didn’t like it so much and we left before police had the chance to bust our session. Now I just sent the boys over a really hidden spot, one more marble ledge with drop. Now enough stories about the cool rolling scene in Belgium, I should start with their party scene maybe?

I shouldn’t to write that much about it you otherwise you get bored, but we visited about 7 Clubs, they were all bad, but in general we left them to pick up Adil outside before he got in trouble with any gigolos. Ogger was totally drunk, called a girl, came back after one hour without mobile phone and wallet, this made him really furious and I never saw him like this, we were more than lucky that everybody survived the night and I´m sure Adil will bring eggs for some of the clubs next time 

At home I had a really strange moment, as I woke up, somebody came in our room and it was Adil who walked the whole way through the hotel, asked at the reception for a Nokia recharger and as they said no, he came into my room to ask me. What is strange about this? Maybe that Adil was totally drunk and he only had boxers on.......
Our filmer Chris and Wolly left us at about 6 in the morning, we extended the breakfast time for one hour and went

to the trainstation where I had to buy a new ticket for Ogger to come home again (The Paya and the Playa). Before we fell asleep in the hotel again I managed to call JJ in order to pick us up and go rolling with us. That’s how we restarted a nice day without rain again! Warming up in the skatepark, Adil left us there in order to do some „trainsleeping“ on his way back home. We went with Ogger to a backside backslide rockerstyle spot – Ogger gave me a nice backroyal (no wax, GC frame on aluminium) 360 out and 180 sort of all graps out. They have been so nice all the way, like a machine he did one trick after the other.

On the way to catch Ogger´s train we decided to make a nice shot on a really dirty street. Some drunken guys saw this and so they came to me and kindly asked me for my camera, as I told him to piss of he said I have to give him my money, I think that was the time where I started running. Some kids around started to throw everything at me they found on the floor. Matrixstyle I managed to get not caught by them, came to JJ who was waiting with my backpack around the corner. „Where is Ogger??“ He was in a crowd of stupid kids and two totally drunk and fucked up guys, so JJ went over to help him, I was standing there all alone with my camera and everybody staring at it$$ - shit. Ok JJ and Ogger had even more problems as they didn’t want to give the guys money and after one of them started to punch JJ´s head from the back luckily some police guys came – damn I’ve never been that happy about them!!! So I showed them the pics on my camera and they brought us into the station safely.....

Just two minutes later Bruno Willmarck called us that he’s in directly this station with a friend, so we picked them up, passed by the drunken guys - running and went to the warmup place again. Short session there before they brought me to a nice ledge to drop. Bruno did bs fully first of all, some mistrials, ao topporn und ao topacid. Even the two securities just said he can go on rolling, they just want to have a look at it. That was good, so I got some good pics of that stuff. The next thing we did was to build a launch out of all the shit we found and let Bruno do some gap again. The launch was not real good german engineering work, but it was belgian work, means a little bit sketchy but ok 

Well the guys believed in their own work and Bruno jumped the gap over a stone wall under a big advertisement sign (VW advert, that´s german engineering by the way). Somehow he didn´t believe he could do it without breaking his shin on the second side of the wall. Before I allowed them to go and eat Dürüm again, I sent Bruno down a small droprail, sweatstance first try. Then he asked if I’m really sure we have enough pics, in the next step he cut off his broken buckles and we quit the session and got us a beer and Dürüm. At the Airport there was one more funny thing, after I bought a seven Euro stamp (cause I’m stupid) there came a group of big black gangsters next to me, one sat down and he gave an interview for TV etc. It was the Dallas Cowboys NBA player Mbenga....nice.

Now I´m over Frankfurt, maybe over Hofheim and Thorsten could see me if you would look up in the skys – what sort of homo stuff am I talking about.
Well I have a lot of good pics in my bag, some stupid experiences and I know that not only eastern European countries can be dangerous!
Guys I love you, thanks a lot to all of those motivated Rollerbladers (esp. JJ, Francis and Bruno), whenever you wanna go there post it on braindamage.be and be sure that EVERY (about 25) skater from Belgium will come to have fun with you. Be sure to hear more in the future of Bruno Willemarck, for sure the best skater in Belgium!
