The making of...

Getting this shot was no easy task. I knew that the word had gotten out about Mr. Bagozzi making an appearance at the event. Being as hot as he is every dirty paparazzi in town would be there, trying to cash in on a crummy snapshot of him. So, I showed up hours in advance and found the one angle I knew no one else would get. Then I meticulously placed flashes all over the area where Casey would be making his entrance, tapping them to lampposts and hanging them from trees.

I then hid where no one would see me high above the commotion, I couldn't have my hot angle compromised. As the moment of truth grew closer the hoard of photographers and videographers grew in to an overwhelming mass of chaos. "Here he comes", some one yelled, as the tall scraggly Bagozzi emerged from one of the limos. I steadied myself as he skated towards the rail with intense concentration, not to be startled by the mass of paparazzi. BOOM! Casey laced the disaster first try and I had the best angle of his awesome feat! As the crowd roared in awe, Mr. Bagozzi, engulfed in a cloud of smoke, disappeared in to the Humble Beings premiere.

That really is nuts man.
And seeing as I didn't contribute to this issue at all I can say without any bias that this issue is awesome, all the photographers deserve major props for this and Mike and Stuff for once again pushing the mag in an upwardly direction.

Thanks to Michael and everyone at be-mag for choosing my image to grace the cover of the photo issue two years in a row. I feel privileged to have my image chosen out of all the amazing talented photographers that are involved in rolling around the globe. A huge thanks goes out to Casey Bagozzi, Brandon Smith and Everyone in Sacramento for coming out and being a part of the cover production.
Keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks for a PDF of my un-published skating portraits.

well yeah we are trying to bring you more such covers, but it is a lot of work on the side of the photographers and not always everyone comes up with a great idea like mike graffigna. he took 2 great covers so far for the photo issues, so I am sure that he will be the one to battle again for the next photo issue, since he will see that he gets his third cover in a row!

Beautiful shot Mike. Casey, that trick is so sick it doesnt matter what the fuck you were wearing, your feet look good. Only a True Roller can appreciate the difficulty of that stunt, but that shot captures what we do perfectly. It reminds me of somthing Arlo said on the new film "Know Difference"- "Its like Michael Jordan and basketball, you didnt have to know much about basketball, to know that he was taking over a game."
