and here is a report from the Weekend2Remember in Dresden:

Weekend2Remember

So this past weekend there was a reason to make your way to the east of germany. Since I never really need a reason to make my way to the east it was more than clear that ill make it to Dresden.
But since there was a reason a sweet bunch of other dudes wanted to go there. And so it came that I found myself driving my car direction east with passengers: Daniel Groner, Gagi Wagenblast and Men Cheung.
Our goal was to arrive early Friday afternoon and than check out some of Dresden’s nice streetspots to film a bit for the upcoming Hey dude issue 2. But 2 and a half hours of waiting for men and some traffic fucked up our plan.
So we reached Dresden early and decided to go directly to the skatepark.
Through the evening a lot of people arrived: the whole Igntion posse, Gabriel Hyden, Mark Stamer, Max Visser, the benztown massive,Thomas thellmann, Dave Benski, Bart Laubsch, Benny Rhinow, Viktor Pillau, Nagge Belka, Benny Harmani, Chris Weber, etc.

So we had a chill session in the park and than the premiere of the new Heat and Mindgame dvd. But before the dvds started we had the pleasure to see a trailer for a new video called stitches which is done by Mark Stamer and some Danish guys. Really nice trailer so watch out for this. I guess it was like 11pm maybe a bit later when the dvds were over and we made our way to the hotel. We chilled a bit with Dominik Wagner and Guido Rosenkranz and had some laughs.

The next Morning was a blast. Getting up way to early cause we wanted to catch some breakfast since we paid for a hotel. So the bell rang at about 9am.
The good thing about our hotel was:

1st: almost every rollerblader who has been in Dresden had a room in this hotel
2nd: right in front of the hotel is a big ass brand new concrete skatepark

so the morning started with a sweet session in this park cause the sun was chilling over Dresden. Stamer, Thellmann, Wagner, Cheung, Benski and Hyden all killed it early in the morning. Men Cheung decided it should be a good idea to start off that day with a topsoul 360 topsoul on a kinkrail after 10 minutes of blading…..

After that it was time to get to the skatehall where the competition took place. Quite a lot of people were already there even the dudes from Denmark like Chris Berg and Jacob Juul made their way to Dresden, than Frederik Anderson from Sweden and some dudes from Greece came for the comp. The practice sessions were awesome with sick skating from Max Visser, Chris Weber, Dominik Wagner, Guido Rosenkranz, Frederik Anderson, Jacob Juul, Michi Leibner….

The comp started with the ams and the level was amazing. Sven Hausmann, Tobias Gasch, Tim Kittlitz, Chris Obermaier, Johnny v. Kralik and the only girl skating the comp Frieda Reisch. The level was amazing and in the end Sven Hausmann killed it with an unbelieveable 360 disaster soul on the huge lunch box!!!

The Procomp was pretty amazing too since there were quite some good rollerbladers in Dresden…Dominik Wagner was skating the whole Park with such a great style and variety of tricks. Mark Stamer was killing the subbox with every truespin trick u can imagine, Guido Rosenkranz is just the dude with the best style combined with tricks u just cant do;-), Max Visser can do 900s easier than you can order a pizza, Michi Leibner can do transfers over a channel to true fishy the whole quarterpipe, Frederik Anderson did an amazing high and wide bio 540 from the bank of the funbox to the ground, Chris Weber was flying through the air tryin the biggest disaster possible in this skatepark over and over and yeah than we got one more guy who has been there: JOJO JACOBI!!!
Jojo showed how to skate this skatepark. He was everywhere and nowhere, he was faster than your car can go on the autobahn and he did amazing tricks. So it was no doubt that he won and now can call himself officially German champion.

But that wasn’t even all what happenend during the comp. First funny thing was that Tobias Gasch crashed into Gape Hyden who than made a big backflip right on the floor.
And than I mentioned earlier in this text that there were some dudes from Greece. And one of them was completely crazy. He dropped in the Miniramp stalled on the rail of the miniramp and did a backflip back into the miniramp and the whole park went crazy….
But that wasn’t even the craziest shit he did..at least he tried something way more crazier but that went completely wrong. He did an alley oop soul on the small rail of the pyramide and tried to do a backflip off and had a bad slam…but he was alright anyway.

So the comp was over but there was one more thing to get done: the world Premiere of the first ever Ignition DVD.
The Ignition Boys rented a really nice cinema for the premiere with cheap beer and so you can imagine the madness that went down. Luckily nothing got broken and everyone enjoyed the double dvd premiere!!! I won’t write a review of the dvds here now but theyre both worth checking out and the fact that you’ll get 2 dvds and a poster for only 14,95 € makes it pretty easy…

I wanna thank everyone who made their way to dresden and was part of this damn nice weekend!!!
Also thanks to the Ignition guys for making this weekend one to remember!!!

-Bassti
