Be-mag apologies for not mentioning any of the people who made the cover possible in the last issue. Rushing a production can result in forgetting the most important caption! So here is the background story on this...

Be-mag apologies for not mentioning any of the people who made the cover possible in the last issue. Rushing a production can result in forgetting the most important caption! So here is the background story on this, Hayden props for getting the shot, Richie props for busting out!

Ed:I can’t help but notice that photo was taken at night what were you up to before the shot?

Hayden: Before we when to southern corp. stadium (the drop off rail) we skated the gold coast, went to the beach as well. It was oour last night in Brisbane to take photos get film for be-mag. We wanted to get some hammers before for we move on the next city.

Richie: First, I can't remember what we were doing before the shot but I think we were out shooting for a bit and then went to Dale's house in Brisbane to chill out for a while before going out to shoot again later that night. Yeah that sounds about right.

Ed: Explain to the rest of the world who is Dale Travers is?

Richie: Dale Travers is a kindhearted Aussie man with a sweet pad and an appetite for bbq! he put us up at his place for a week and made us feel at home. We all enjoyed several beer, bbqs, skatemeets, kabobs, dance floor takeovers and the like.

Hayden: Dale is the other photographer for Rolla Mag. His full name is Dale Travers. He is based in Brisbane, Australia.

Ed: Did it take long to setup?

Hayden: It didn’t take too long, about 25 mins for start to finish. I had to think quickly because the last time dale and the other Brisbane skates skated the rail they got booted quickly by the cops.

Ed: What were you thinking when you first saw the rail?

Richie: When I first saw the rail I was thinking I don’t really like skating drop rails (especially for photos because you have to do it 30 times to get the perfect shot)... but I also thought that it was perfect for a drop rail of that size. a bit long, but good height, mellow, good lighting, smooth cement, etc.

Hayden: Not another down rail to shoot.

Ed: How does it feel to be on the cover of the latest be-mag?

Richie: I was excited when I found out. be-mag has always supported me and after they set up the whole tour for us and everything I was happy that we were able to get a shot that they liked enough to put on the cover.

Hayden: I’m really happy with the privilege to be on the cover of the biggest rollerblading magazine in the world.

Ed: Did anyone else try the drop rail?

Richie: Nobody else tried it when I was there but others have done it before.

Hayden: No, but Tom Bartley wanted to Kindgrind it.

Ed:How many times did you bail out?

Richie: I was being really careful about the drop so i jumped off early and ran down the stairs a few times. Not sure how many.

Ed: Is it true your anti rocker wheels give you super powers?

Richie: Yes, obviously my wheels give me super powers.

Ed: Was the shot a stealth job?

Richie: The shot was pretty chill to be honest. Dale thought we had to be stealth because they've been asked to leave before, but we had no problems. We just rolled up and I took some time warming up while Golder set up his gear. then we waited for a group of jugglers, hippies and hackeysackers to leave before I started skating. Golder wanted me to do it a few more times after I landed it but I had to shoot him down. He wanted to improve the shot because he's a perfectionist, but I was fresh off the head injury so I wasn't in the mood for gambling on a drop rail. And I don’t even like skating drop rails very often to begin with. But you gotta love a man who isn't satisfied with a photo that is good enough to be a cover shot! That's a quality photographer right there. haha

Ed: Was Hayden Golder easy to work with?

Richie: Yeah, golder was easy to work with. I don’t really enjoy shooting photos because I find it takes the fun out of skating, but we still had a really good time when he wasn't mad at us for eating his crackers! haha. I just wish he had more time to skate with us instead of taking the shots all the time.

Ed: Why did you deprive Golder from his crackers?

Richie: I ate a few of golder's crackers because i had a craving for some snacks. But tien and Choley ate a whole box (or maybe even 2 or more) and Golder was not happy. the one armed bandit and senor Choley defended themselves by saying that Mrs. Golder told them to help themselves to crackers and food, but I could see smoke coming out of golder's ears! Things escalated as Choley was not impressed with golder's rage considering there were 20 boxes of crackers in the kitchen and each box only cost something like 50 cents! The verbal attacks still go back and forth long after the tour. I really don’t think this dispute will ever be resolved.

Ed: Was Richie easy to work with?

Hayden: It’s always easy to work with Richie, because of his waits till you setup before killing shit.
