Tallyfornia….Wrap up.

Saturday morning we woke up surprisingly early. Gumby awoke after only 3 hours of sleep to go make amends for his drunken evil doings the night before. After Gumby had cleansed his soul it was still only 10:00am. We got everyone up and packed the Focus and headed towards Tallyfornia. When we got into the country Adam started to tell us tales of a haunted bridge that was used in Frat hazing and other Satanic rituals. I insisted that me must stop to increase our BroBond at this ritualistic American Landmark. Our car load was in need of herbal refreshment and what better place to get lit than a crazy abandoned bridge in the middle of the sticks. We pulled down a shady ass road full of broke down trailer homes and abandoned turn-of-the-century abodes that was remnant of a horror flick. Walt got the pistol out and we explored the Bridge where “legend has it” a bus load of college athletes was killed when the bus veered over the side of the bridge and fell 80 ft into the river. Good times were had and we all loaded back into the whipsacle and headed to Tally.

When we pulled in to Tally, spots started shooting at us from every direction. We were overwhelmed with the amount of spots this place had. Every single building had something good to skate. Buildings that shouldn’t have anything to skate had perfect rails and launches. It was an experience that refreshed my tired head and got my rollerjuices flowing. We pulled into the first spot of the day and started throwing our skates on, well everyone but Gumby who had forgotten his skates in his early morning mindlessness. So we unpacked the camera equipment strapped our blades on and sent Gumby back to Valdosta (3 hour round trip) to get his skates. We sessioned downtown Tally and met up with Dennis and Blake our Tally tour guides and the dudes holding the Pan Handle Pow Wow which Atlanta will be attending. We skated some of the best spots I have ever skated and after words had dinner at Moes and kicked it in the Hotel. Adam and Scott Raser went down to the FSU bars where they tried to get Scott laid. Unfortunately the only dude getting lucky was Walt and I ruined that by walking in on him mid warm-up after scouring the small city for a 24 hour source of Vegan nutrients. We woke up on Sunday morning and decided to go skate Florida A&M which is incredible. We ended up getting around 20 clips on Sunday and left early to head back to Atlanta.

We dropped Adam and Gumby off in Valdosta after having an hour and a half long discussion about the industry (the author does not recommend this to anyone, it is a frustrating and uncertain topic with too many opinions). Scott Walt and I got back on the road and discussed the many years of skating, coverage and good times we had weighed against our future responsibilities as human beings. The trip ensured me that rollerblading is definitely not dead; we just have to stop talking about how negative things appear and start enjoying our opportunity to create a well rounded culture.
