Kingdom Magazine, headed up by Joe Coyne and Oli Short, have stepped up their game in delivering media to UK rollerblading, in the form of interviews, killer photos (from Adam Kolas lens) as well as the hottest news and reports. Just recently they dropped thier first PDF issue and raised the standard again.

Never complacent, Kingdom are now bringing their first DVD to the masses and so I managed to get hold of Joe Spray (Kingdom videographer) while he was in the final stages of editing to ask him some questions about Kingdoms first DVD 'The Rain' :
DB: Joe, tell me about the video. Whats with the name?JS: I decided to call it 'The Rain' for a couple of reasons, first here in the UK it rains alot, its one of the many things we have to deal with that makes our skating different from alot of the world, it also works as a parody of The Sun which is a major tabloid newspaper here. Thats where i got the logo concept from and the newspaper thing which i guess ties in with the up coming print for Kingdom.
DB: Who is having sections in The Rain? JS: Oli Short, Ollie Gomm and Mike Welland are having full profiles. Ollie G and Mike we're also profiled in the online mag numbers one and three so i was fillming alot with these guys before, during and after Kola shot them. Alongside this me and Oli Short have been filming for the section for a long time now, hes also got a little surprise in stall for us all. Im really juiced on all the profiles, they all have very different approaches to rollerblading but they all make it look really cool.
DB: You've been all over the UK filming for this video and I'm pretty sure you have covered just about every good skater in the UK.JS: Yeh i think so, its weird cos it didnt start out that way but we got a lot of people like Nick Lomax, Si Cox, Andy Spary, Sim Warren, Leon Humphries, Fraser Watson, Chaz Sands, Albert Hooi, the list goes on. Also managed to get a few clips of Fabrice when we went to Paris and Enanoah in Barca.
DB: Was it difficult travelling so much and fitting in the DVD around your work, skaters commitments and the weather issues?JS: Big time! The weathers a big issue so it takes like a year to get enough footage over here, too many rained off sessions to remember. I enjoy traveling alot anyway so thats not so bad, got to meet alot of new friends and get loose all over the place. I've been holding down a 9-5 the whole time so i could only skate and film on weekends which makes it long, plus Ollie and Mike are both at university so i have to work around their schedules plus i have to work with Olis skating schedule which can be challenging, but it worked out ok, like you said i think i got everyone.
DB: You just got off the kingdom tour, is there going to be a tour edit on the DVD? JS: Yeh thats right, tour was alot of fun went to some really good parks and bunch of good tricks went down. Theres gonna be a full tour section in the DVD featuring all the dudes who came along, including Jeff Stockwell, Fish, Ski, Chris Cheshire, Julian Bah, Vinny Minton, Nick Lomax and loads more....there were alot of people rolling around, alot of jokes
DB: When is the video dropping and where will I be able to get a copy?JS: Its out mid-July so in just under a months time, you'll be able to grab a copy from all good skate shops in UK and Europe as well as directly from the Kingdom website. We're not sure what the deal is with the US yet but there will be a few copies floating around there too.
DB: Sounds good, thanks for taking time to chat, should be a must-have DVD, looking forward to it alot.JS: Cheers Bond and nice one Be-Mag, Kingdom, BHC and all the skaters. The rains gonna make you wet.

If the movie is a 10th as good as the trailer, best movie to come out of the UK methinks.
