Evol is a film by Hayden Eatchel and Cameron Card. I doubt that you have already heard of Hayden, but you have for sure heard of Cameron. I have always been fascinated by Cameron’s sweet style and his amazing skills. For me Cameron is one of the top professionals in the rollerblading industry. So I was very excited to see if he is also able to produce a good DVD. The intro is pretty sweet and features some very nice tricks together with a relaxed song. After a very promising intro you get to see the first full section. I can remember to have seen a George Veasy edit on youtube. With his section on Evol he shows that he is not only good enough for youtube but also good enough to impress Cameron Card. George is a guy that skates very solid and that is not only focused on one aspect of streetskating. He is not only limited to sick grinds, he can also spin like hell and land huge gaps. I’d like to congratulate George on his debut section.

Jeremy Spira and Jeremy Soderburg do not only share names, they also share sections. Their double section contains fast, solid and tech skating. I think that it’s good that they didn’t mix their tricks because I think the one Jeremy’s style is very different from the other Jeremy’s style. If I had to choose my favourite it would be Spira because his style is off the hook. Victor Arias… Can you even imagine a new DVD release without an Arias profile? Victor is the king of switch-ups and I doubt that there is anybody out there that can try to match his tricks. This will leave you totally dizzy and you will spend hours trying to figure out what this guy on the screen just did. If you want to know anything about the montage sections I guess you will have to buy the DVD. The only thing I can tell you is that Paul John is featured with one of the gnarliest slams I have ever seen!

SLC3 are Jeff Stranger, Chris Olpin and Dan Dickerson. Dan Dickerson was also featured in Opus but I have rarely seen anything of the other two guys. What I especially like is that none of them fits into the categories of being hip hop or rock. All of them skate at an amazing level and I was once again stocked to see how much talent there is in rollerblading. I bet that none of them has earned a single dollar with rollerblading in the last few years and this makes their section even greater. In any other sport these guys could make a living out of what they do. On the one hand this makes me really proud of rollerblading and on the other hands that’s a quite sad story.

After you have seen the main part of the DVD there still is something to discover. There is a dope Japan section. Japan looks like paradise, the spots are simply amazing. If I could choose to travel somewhere to skate I think I would go to Japan. If you have seen We Are Valo 2 and want to see more of Soichiro Kanashima this is what you need to check out! Unfortunately there is no Cameron Card section in the main part of the DVD. If you are as disappointed about this as I was you will be happy to hear that there is Cameron Card Woodward edit in the bonus section. Besides sweet park skating by Cam you can also see 9 year old sensation Wake Shepman. In the bonus part of the DVD you will also find single section of SLC3. You have already seen most of Jeff Stranger’s, Chris Olpin’s and Dan Dickerson’s trick in their main section but they didn’t forget to throw in some new, hot stuff. All in all I have to say that this is the best release I have seen in a long time.

Someone clearly has anger management issues that they might want to address. ;)

Lui does the best job he can providing reviews on a regular basis. However, the fact remains that English is not his first language and as a result the features do suffer due to typographical errors and gramatical mistakes.

But... he is trying to give you an insight into these videos, so you could at least be appreciative of the time he has taken to compose these pieces instead of offending him with unnecessary abuse.
