Be-mag: Hey Tory, what have you been doing lately?
Tory: Workin my ass off friend. All the new Heat stuff is in so now I am just shipping like crazy trying to clear inventory and get it out to the masses. Also working on T Graphics for the Holiday Line, and tryin to film as much as I can for this that and the other. Also working on a new Heat Site, I think it's just images so far, no updates, so I need to get a different format so I can start doing what Jon does with the Valo site.

1) Hey Tory, what have you been doing lately?Workin my ass off friend.
2) So is everything chill in San Francisco?Everything is good in SF, sold my car bought a bicycle, every morning I ride down to the shop to get her open. Check E mails and take care of On-line orders, shit like that. I am busy, but enjoying what we got going out here. So is it Chill? I guess you could say it's chill!
3) You moved to SF last year, or something like that to manage D-Structure INT. How is this coming together? It's work, and it's pushing what I love so I got no complaints. The amount of customers we get in the store that dont know anything about rollerblading is great, being on Haight Street really gives us an opportunity to show the world what we are all about, and have the likes of myself, and Jon julio to give them an ear full if they are interested. I like talking with people about skating, I feel like so many have a horrible idea of what the sport is about so when they meet us, hear our sides, hear and see what we are about we change their impressions of rollerblading. It's exciting seeing people wearing the brands involved in our industry. The other day I saw a guy sitting at a coffee shop with his daughter and he had a vicious shirt on it was hilarious.
4) How is it for you to work 24/7 for rollerblading and than still go out there to roll around?Rollerblading is what saves me, there are so many stresses with running brands and businesses that if I didn't have time to put on my skates and go skate I'd probably lose it. Keeps me motivated, and alive, and young at times.
5) Isn't it challenging for you and your private life that you really rollerblade 24/7 either as Teammanger, Company owner, Shop owner or as a Professional Rollerblader?I find it challenging sometimes, mainly just because I am always so busy, it's hard to leave work at work and just go home and relax. I feel like there's always something I could be doing, but I think I still have a decent private life.
6) You have been on Valos for a time now, but since 1 month or so, you are listed as pro rider for Valo? How that happened?Slipped Julio a hundred. No Julio and I always help eachother out with one anothers brand, he helped me with all the web stuff, and I designed all his New T shirts, so I think we both look out for one another, and want to see each other succeed. I skate with Jon the most out here, and I think we both motivate in ways so he felt like it was a good idea for me to be on. Ask jon he can tell ya.

-Busting lines in the skatepark in Sac
7) Are you gonna stay in SF for longer or are you planning to go back to Utah?Utah is Home for me, I said I'd move out here for 2 years and do the shop, then I am planning on heading back home to do my own thing. Probably start my own distribution out of Utah, it's cheaper rent and living, and my family is out there.8) What are the plans for Heat? Any new Team DVD or similar in planning or are you focusing on other things? My main focus is always Heat, we are talking about another video now, as far as I know most of the guys are filming, but honestly with videos you really dont make a lot of money, it seems like you get more seen now a days on web, so I might work some stuff on my website instead of an actual video, but we will have to see. Should have the new website done in the next few weeks, so just keep tuning in.
9) How are you coming along with the scene in SF?My scene is my Dog, my Girlfriend, my guitars, and my rollerblades, so in my eyes my scene is kicking some serious fuckin ass!10) Is there any difference for you skating wise with the age of 27 (I hope that is right) or is it still the same since you started as a kid?Fuck I wish I was 27, how'd that be! Pushin 29 these days, Aug. 25th I'll be 29 years old. wow. haha but yes its the same, it hurts more, I dont bounce as much, but yeah when I am out there it feels no different than it did when I was 11, still puts a smile on my face, and it still gives me a huge sense of pride.
11) Whats up with Able, any new project on that?Since the shop opened I feel like able has took a bit of the back burner for me, but I am working on that now. WE are planning a tour, and a team video release for next year. The new frames get here in a month, new Vinny Minton, and Treseder Models so look for that.
12) You are skating for a long time now and I am sure you dealed with one or the other injury...how do you feel about stuff that happened to Cameron Card, does it influence you?I've broke 33 bones in my body since I started Rollerblading, but none of them were my fucking head. It definitely influences me, more so now that I am older, I find myself thinking more about what could happen. But I dont find that it turns me away, I still love doing it. I think it's different with Cameron, or different with head injuries in general I should say. He called me the other day talking about how the Dr. said he should think about quitting, and honestly when he said he was thinking about it it tore me up inside. I couldn't imagine someone telling me that. Card is one of my best friends, and my favorite skater in Rollerblading, he has the most natural and fearless talent, and if he does decide to quit it'll be a sad day in my book, both for Rollerblading and the Utah Rollerblading Scene. I personally think he just needs to tone it down a notch, guys always lookin for the biggest disaster to do, he needs to realize that regardless of how big the shit is he is skating he's still amazing to watch. I dont think he'll have to quit, I think it's gonna be a few months of hard rehab, but he'll come out of it a smarter, stronger man!13) Shout outs?
Mom, Dad, Sisters, Lindsay, Charlie, Danforth, Stockwell, Short, Bailey, Kuhn, St. Ours, Sturgess, Card. Live. Love.

Very nice interview. Jon Julio and Erick Bailey should learn a thing or two from Tory about handling questions and giving answers that are interesting to their audience.
