Rolling Rock once again organised a superb event. This year they invited five US pros to the contest. Brian Aragon, Nick Wood, Don Bambrick, Dre Powell and Billy O’Neill were invited to come. I was very surprised to see how many people were already at the skatepark when we arrived at noon. There were so many people who were already skating or waiting for the pros that it was difficult to find a way through all those people. Most people were grinding the long flat rail which was built by Rolling Rock. Unfortunately this led to some quite harsh collisions on the rail.
The crowd
There were a lot of competitors for the junior competition. Unfortunately the skating skills of some were not too good. Some were quite entertaining… but everybody was pushing his limits. One of the guys was praying, running up for the big handrail and stopped… he did this five times. On his sixth run up he threw down an almost perfect Fishy which I bet he has never done before! The guy who stood out most was Tim Helbock from Austria. He was laying down hammers like it was nothing. He did every fullcab trick down the big ledge and Fullcab True Mizou down the handrail… everything was done first try. But somehow he did not win which was totally surprising for me.

Dominik Wagner getting highThe girl’s competition was dominated by Mathilde Monneron from France. She was doing some totally awesome tricks. Mathilde skated obstacles none of the other girls could skate… Congratulations on winning the girl’s competition. The bowl contest was one of the best bowl contests I have ever seen. Mathieu Heinemann, Adrien Anne, Dominik Wagner and some other guy whose name I don’t know were tearing shit up! Dominik and Mathieu were skating fast at light speed and Adrien was doing the most impossible combos ever. The other guy who I don’t know did the most incredible flips I have every seen anybody do in a bowl!
Roman Wuest - TopsoulStreet Seniors was the competition I was looking forward to the most! Unfortunately the US pros were a bit exhausted by partying and skating too much during the last week. Nick Wood did the runs with the most innovative tricks (50-50 Nut-Grab). Aragon also did some sick tricks… but the only US pro who was going really wild was Billy O’Neill. He did True Top Porn and other stuff up a rail. Cyril Daniel was the man of the day… he did the sickest tricks in his runs as well as winning the Ucon best trick competition. He did a 630 FS Royal on the handrail which was totally nuts and made him the hero of the day!
