This weekend I attended the "Thrill" premiere hosted by Jon "X-rated" at Jessie's Shop. Jessie is is a cool motherfucker who skates and always and always hosts the best shindigs. I have to tell everyone that when I walked in, I was sadly one of the only people there that wasn't drunk...
This weekend I attended the "Thrill" premiere hosted by Jon "X-rated" at Jessie's Shop. Jessie is is a cool motherfucker who skates and always hosts the best shindigs. I have to tell everyone that when I walked in, I was sadly one of the only people there that wasn't drunk. So needless to say the first thing I did was search out for a beer. After a few rousing rounds of "what the fuck's up dude!", I promptly found a premium seat and got cozy with my lady, an MGD, a box of Gobstoppers, and a box of Bottle Caps and waited for the beautiful videography I had come to see.
Unknown, Jesse and Sammy ChaseFirst thing I have to say is that this video is REALLY FUCKING SICK, but with a lineup of Franky Morales, Joey Chase, Matty Shrock, Jeph Howard, Mike Lilly, and Jeremy Spira, how can you really go wrong? Franky's section is, obviously, a section full of smooth grinds and big gaps. Franky has been one of the best since before I started skating, and it’s safe to say that these days, he's skating better than ever. Everyone who is a Franky Morales fan will like this section...A LOT. Jeremy Spira's section was the first large collection of clips I had seen of him and it's an impressive array of creative, technical, and stylish manoeuvres. I really like his style, and the section makes you want to see more of his skating (Icons anyone?).
GroupshotJeph Howard's section is really fucking rad. Jeph Howard is someone else who has held it down for the past 7-10 years, and he is one of the few in rollerblading that has creative, highly technical, and stunt tricks on lock…(it's what makes a professional). I used to talk shit on his clothing style all the time saying it made him look like a trash bag, but now it's really clean and refined and he looks like an adult... ood job Jeph. (There's montages between the sections with skaters like Dustin Latimer, Rob Thompson, Damien Wilson, myself, Sammy Chase, and others which are cool, but I'm going to focus on the sections.
Joey and X-ratedMatty Shrock’s section is way past sick...there is a montage of Matty busting his ass like a crash test dummy to start out the section, and its is brutal...really fucking brutal...and what you won't know unless you are in the know, or you read this (which technically makes you in the know...almost...) is that Matty blew out his knee during filming for this section and still made his shit proper as fuck. His section shows his style of rollerblading, which in my opinion is a mixture between Charles Dunkle and Rob Thompson. Matty holds it down with a nice dose of FID, land it or die...which are my words to live by, (basically I'm pretty biased towards Matty's shit...which definitely doesn't stink).
Joey and his fansMike Lilly...haha...I don't think any pro has had his style more jocked since Chris Farmer than Mike Lilly...seriously...and it's easy to see why when you watch his section. He does a lot of tricks that you think won't be cool and then they make you say, "Oooooooooohhhhhhhh...that was so sick" (he's sneaky that way...you'll see). Ok...so you watch this video and it's tight and shit, and then you see Joey Chase's section and you fucking scream at the screen, "WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A FUCKING PRO SKATE?!" If you don't have this response to Joey's section, then you don't know dick about rollerblading, cool people, or marketing strategy, and you probably play World of Warcraft in your free time (not that there's anything wrong with that ahha). But seriously Joey's one of the best skaters I've seen in a very long time. First off, he drinks waaaaaaay more than he skates... (he probably skates once every two or three weeks, due to the fact that he gets hurt doing the rails you told him to do.. aha, and drinks just about every day like a degenerate…) So with that being said, just think how good he could be if he'd actually put his mind to it, and had motivation from sponsors who believe in him.
Buy this video, but if you don't, you probably aren't cool anyways, so none of us will care (except X-Rated)
hahaha

I just got this video in today and I heard a couple people say they didn't like it so I wasn't expecting much but all I have to say is "wow." This video actually really blew me away. Jeremy Spira's section was off the hook. Every single section in this video was off the hook, including the montage.
There were a few clips of Farmer in the montage, super ill. There wasn't a down part to this entire video.
I just got done watching the B Roll footage and I was pretty shocked to see some guy run up on that one right (from B-unique) and put him in a headlock after he fell off a huge drop rail and the procede to try and fight him. Pretty crazy stuff.
If any of you guys are having doubts about this video, don't. It's seriously sick.

I agree. Michael Braud did some good work on this one. I can't wait to see this video. Hopefully UPS knocks on my door in the next few days.

this was surprisingly the coolest thing be-mag published in a long time.
