Filth is the best rollerblading DVD I have seen in a very, very, very long time. The Santee crew is a bunch of guys who know how to have a good time. People have been making rollerblading look way to serious. Due to this no outstanding person could see that those guys with wheels on their feet are actually having fun. I remember a time when rollerblading videos were way better – not the filming or the editing – but because of the fun you had when you watched them. Filth is different; Filth is like an old school video with up to date skating.

Nick and Robby

The intro carries one very important message: Santee doesn’t give a fuck about anything. It is totally ridiculous tricks combined with fast, hard music. I don’t think you could be more rock and roll than Santee! Later on you get to see what you would expect: loads of dead animals and burning stuff. They also had someone write a song which tells their story and perform it for their DVD.

Damien Wilson has got the first profile. I think he is one of the pioneers of ‘creative’ skating. No one does the tricks he does because no one is able to copy his sick style. The way he moves his feet and his abstracts to and out of everything are insane. Also the way he makes a 540 over a small kicker look like a 900 made me watch this trick at least 10 times in a row.

The friends section is full of funny clips. You get to see guys in hot pants doing true souls and tons of party action. The French brothers have got quite a few sick tricks in this section. Man… I still remember their Daily Bread article they have been representing for such a long time! It seems as if Jimmy Ormsby is obsessed with ‘Lord of the Flies’. What would you expect of someone who puts a cut off pig nose over his own nose? Yes, you are right… complete madness! Jimmy is a stunt seeker. What makes his section so outstanding is not his grinds. It is the wall rides and gaps he does. The way this guy does fakie 720’s and forward 900’s down the gnarliest gaps makes his section a must see! He somehow reminds me of Pat Lennen.

Damien Wilson - Mute to 540

Lyle Shivak is the first guy I ever saw doing a 360 Fishy on a handrail in Under The Influence. Since then I have not heard too much about him. But this guy is still so good you can’t even imagine. I mean isn’t AO Topsoul one of the last tricks you would try to do on huge drop rails? The sickest trick in his profile is a 360 Hardspin Topsoul down a kink rail most people wouldn’t even Royal. Following Lyle’s section there is a party section with some funny and some really disgusting stuff edited to the best ever Beastie Boys party song!

Rob Withcomb is famous for his long hair and for being part of the Santee crew. He is a very consistent and fast skater. I like his section because it’s not the usual 720 to grind section you get to see too often. Up next is Nick Wood. At first I was disappointed by Nick's section. Not because of the section but because of the slow song. But then I found out that Nick divided his section into two parts. The first part is to wet your appetite and the second one is the hottest shit ever! Nick does the hugest kink rails and disasters possible. Together with a sick song this section gets your adrenaline flowing. 50% of his section is do-or-die tricks. Kato give Nick a pro skate!!!

Sounds like a sick video. I'm probably going to pick it up just for the Damien Wilson and Nick Wood sections.

this video is pretty cool except for what's-his-nuts Ormsby abusing animals in the extras. Maybe this is considered cool or punk rock in bumfuck santee California. I wasn't feeling it.

I use fact in the same sense as BS 5050

January 11th, 2008 @ 13:54 - by Garrett Rush Garrett Rush

Where did fifty-50 get their name? ha, probably from the fact that their grindplates were both metal and plastic.

Yeah, this is a great flick...

That is if you haven't seen any footage from these guys in the last four years. If you have, then you probably realize that there is an obsurd amount of reused footage.

Hey Guys, better chill on that topic and Lui...trick names are so different from country to country...even between Germany and Austria people understand something completly different on outspin and inspin...and some people just call it a 50-50 or BS 50-50...where do you think the frame company fifty-50 got their name from...back in the days there was even a FS and BS UFO...either way, BS 50-50 is not wrong nor is FS or just BS...

get over it, it is trickname...

January 11th, 2008 @ 09:52 - by Garrett Rush Garrett Rush

Backside... check your sources in the future, and just cause you blog for be-mag doesn't make your opinion "better" than anyone else or the right to change trick names in rollerblading.

January 11th, 2008 @ 05:27 - by DanielBond DanielBond

Its not a 5050 because this is rollerblading.

Its a backside.

Trick names are confusing enough without adding in skateboarding terms. Frontside, backside: its simple enough.

@ Grand BS 50-50 is better because there are a lot of tricks you can do BS...
