This summer I got invited to be part of the Italian Rolling Party in Sestri Levante. I packed the car with the Ignition Valley Finest Team and we were on our way to the event. I didn’t really know what to expect, because I was part of the judging team and I never before had to do with the Italian scene. The competition turned out great and all I can say is that Italy got a bunch of great talents. But there is something else I want to talk about. In the evening they set up a small camping TV and everybody came together for a DVD premiere. The movie was called TWY – The Wasted Years. Again, I had no idea what to expect. No expectations, nothing.

During the first minutes of the movie I realised that attention was needed because it seemed to be something different then all the other stuff in today’s world of skating DVDs. Then, after a while of watching it, I started to feel good, really good. At the end of the movie I couldn’t stop smiling anymore. This movie made me happy. It made me happy about my life, happy about Rollerblading and about the fact that Rollerblading is part of my life. TWY is not about the big hammers, it’s about feelings. After a long time I could again feel why I love to be involved with this little thing. Why I’m skating.

The movie is filmed very very well and edited even better. Francesco Tommasi and Davide Regoli are the two masterminds behind this project and they made a simple AO Pornstar looking like having the fun of your life. While watching the movie I felt like back in the days when I and my friends where having sessions at our local miniramp until nobody could walk anymore. It reminds me the fun I had and it reminds me why I’m still skating. I could say the movie is art, but in the same moment I need to say that its fun! Watching a bunch of cool people painting a miniramp in the middle of the forest and skating is fun - and art at the same time. I can’t really describe the movie, but I advise everybody of you to buy the movie.

Oh… and there’s something else. There’s this big BOOK as part of the package. It is a real book with great pictures in it. A book like I always wanted to have one about rollerblading. This package is an unbelievably great mix between the fun of rollerblading and a kind of art you can hardly find in our sport. High quality on DVD and paper. Everybody out there who is interested in watching something different, something inspiring, should get this package NOW!

After talking to Francesco and Davide I decided that I want to support their little project. You will find an official TWY Booth at the Winterclash Tradeshow Area. They will play the movie there as well and you can go there and check it out! Also if you want to buy this movie now, you can order it at Ignitionshop.com – because they got all the good stuff in stock! But I’m sure that all the other shops will sell it as well after this year’s Winterclash.
Don’t miss to check that out.

The Wasted Years. My biggest surprise in 2007!
