When I saw the first photos of Clip 4’s cover I never expected that it would be delivered with a white cover and six felt tip pens. Everybody was expecting some fresh and stylish packaging. The Clip guys didn’t hesitate to put some money into being the most creative ones out there. Do you know how much it costs to make a custom packaging and to put six felt tip pens into each box? If you choose to create your own cover or if you just leave it like it is your decision. Either way it is an eye catcher in anyone’s DVD collection. Clip has gained a really good reputation over the past years. At the Winterclash I heard Alex Broskow say ‘I don’t know who Dave Benski is, but he must be good because he is on Clip!’

The whole DVD is filmed and edited very very nicely. If it ads something to a trick the Clip guys tried to use different angles. The ‘regular’ skatevideo is a bunch of rollerblading clips thrown together and maybe some talking in-between the sections. Clip is different! The intro, as well as the other sections, features a healthy mix of ‘lifestyle’ footage and actual skating clips. Very often when people try to make a video with superb filming and an arty editing the hammers get left behind. Fortunately this has not been done in Clip 4, you for sure get to see a good amount of hammers!
There are tons of sections on this DVD. The first section is ‘Germany’ which features skaters from all over Germany like Dominik Wagner, Matthias Ogger and Michi Hieber. After this you get to see the long overdue Ucon section. Jochen Smuda, Jona Messerli, Jon Julio and Erik Bailey show what can be done on them blades. All of them are unbelievably good and show tricks like e.g. FS Torque to Fishy to BS Backslide on a quite long handrail. What I really like about the French section is to see that Jeremy Jimenez still skates and to see some original Heinemann hammers. These guys have got so many amazing spots. The spots in the French section could only be topped by the spots in the Japan section. Sometimes I really wonder why people build such stuff if they don’t skate!? Chiaki Ito and Fabrice Guyont both have got a lot of clips in this section.

The intro to Dave Benski’s section is very creative. Dave skates everything from skateparks to rails to ledges to things nobody else would look at in a fast and rough way. He is one of the rising stars of German rollerblading. After seeing this section you will know why! The Lissabon section features Robert Pinho, Ricardo Lino, Fabio Perreira, Matthias Ogger, Jochen Smuda and nice, sunny skatespots. Fabio really impressed me with a bunch of serious hammers. After his tricks I though I had already see the best stuff in this section but Ogger showed me how wrong I was. This guy has got more control than the FBI and he can hold BS Backslides and Fishys on ledges for ages! After this there is ‘Lost and Found’ which features great old clips. They have been filmed from 1999 until now. After those sweet memories you get to see a montage section. This montage features the ‘who is who’ of European rollerblading and Victor Arias.

The Clip guys decided to end their 4th issue with a section that has got a lot of soul. Oli Short’s section couldn’t be more English! Streetskating is not only skating handrails and ledges that go down stairs. In his section Oli shows what streetskating really means. It means going out there and skating everything that crosses your path. The song for his section is a perfect choice. What could be better for this English guy than the Beatles’ song Help!? Oli Short is a great skater, even if some people don’t want to see it. I bet that most people that have seen his Clip 4 section will agree with me!
Buy Clip 4 and support Europe's and even the whole world's finest DVD series!

Even tough Lui is a friendly guy, i agree with people saying that his english isn't too well.
there is just too much "denglish" (german phrases used in english) and too many "trying too hard" metaphors in his reviews.
but there are 2 things to think about:
1) he's doing a lot for be-mag, you need to respect hat.
2) the CLIP DVD is just awesome, i'll buy it these days first hand from jochen. i'm recommending everybody to do the same.

I didn't see any dollys in the film? They used cameras on cables though. Brilliant production, brilliant sections and fantastic motion graphics.
THANK YOU JOCHEN AND LUKAS!
