Cameron Card is a name that stands out in the rollerblade world.  He's that guy who's forgotten what foot is regular.  I don't understand how he has to go ahead and lace everything both ways.  I can honestly say that he has done everything in the rollerblade skates from being a grommet to winning contest, turning pro, amazing sections, being in dozens of magazines, making videos, traveling the world, cracked his head open, and taking photos.  Geez Cameron if you were writing this you would sound a bit cocky. good thing I'm writing this about you.. huh?  besides rollerblading, Cameron likes kendama, hash browns with eggs, climbing, snowboarding, skiing and searching for his soul mate.  If the love of his life is happening to reads this, then myspace him already! I'm tired of watching you guys play this hide and seek game.  On behalf of the bladers here out in Utah we just want to say thanks for getting our name out there and keeping the scene alive.

 -Chris Olpin

Hayden Eatchel is currently taking a photography class so we decided we'd do a portrait shot for one of his assignments. It had to be a long exposure with light painting.

Did it ever cross your mind that after the accident you might never skate again?
Yeah after my injury I put it in my mind that I'll never skate again.  It put me in this really big hole of depression that was finally cured by my mom telling me that I can't quit something I love.   Just need to learn from it and move on.

When do you have your funnest sessions? I mean, is it when all of your friends are around dorking out, or is it when your are really focused to land some tricks?
My favorite sessions came when I was younger skating in my best friends back yard losing to him in skate.  After my head injury it's hard not to enjoy every session I get.

Elk wrote: After you broke your skull, and you preached the benefits of wearing helmets.... why not wear a helmet in some of your new online sections? You were all like "If I hit my head a again I gonna die" or something.
Gonzalo wrote: I talked to him about this, Cameron wears helmets while skating street and when hes doing something hes uncomfortable with while skating park. If hes just flowing around a park for fun and maybe to get a few clips he choses not to wear the helmet.
After my head injury I put out one section where I didn't wear a helmet.  After the response to that edit,  it hit me,  I didn't learn from my fall.  I was just trying to be that dumb kid again.  Life is a learning process... not everyone is perfect.   Mikey wasn't wrong by saying what he said.  I was talking to him when I thought I was indestructible.   I made an edit called "iLoveRollerblading" after with an apology for posting the helmetless edit.

Able "All or Nothing"  tour in Japan was nothing less then AMAZING! Sneaking away from the other 12 guys on tour to get some photos. Best way to take a pictures of yourself would have to be a mirror!

What is your favorite section that you've put out of yourself and why?
I would have to say VG22.  Because of all the experiences I had with staying at Dave Paine and Randy Spizer's place in Costa Mesa, California.  It was my first experience skating with that caliber of rollerbladers and videographers.

Lets talk business and don't say "I don't have one". Lets get the lowdown on what is truly "switch" or at least "harder" for your on a few tricks...

1) Soul - Left Or Right?
2) Royal - Left Or Right?
3) Fishy - Left Or Right?
4) AO Topsides - Left Or Right?
5) Tru topsides - Left Or Right?
6) Truspins - Left Or Right?
7) Farvs - Left Or Right?
8) 360 Soul - Spinning to the Left Or Right?
9) Back Torque - Left Or Right? (but can't do them)
10) Alley Oops - Left Or Right?

Thanks Cam!

I'm originally all right footed but learned it's easier to do some tricks left over right.  I'll just let you know what those are.

Left
Kindgrind, Top porn, tru mizue, topsoul, and misfit.

Rollmart put on a local street contest and it ended up raining at every spot we went to. Lucky enough the sun came out long enough to shoot a rainbow portrait with A-Train!

Have you ever experienced anything weird since the accident...like weird dreams or something?
I get headaches that I've never had before.  Also, in the sit position when i  put  my head to my knees, my body feels like it's going into a spin.

Did you see a white light?
I have no memory of the accident.

What has changed the most since the accident?
My whole life!  It can be taken away without warning.  I'd hate leave on a bad note.

How often do you regret not wearing a helmet before you hit your head?
I don't regret it at all.  It's taught me so much.

why did you decide to learn a lot of tricks both ways and just incorporate a lot of switch tricks into your skating?
I've just always thought it was cool.  There's no real reason besides that.

Why the switch from VALO to REMZ?
Answered later....

Billy "Beastmaster" Anderson! You'll be seeing alot more from this guy soon enough! Street bump up and over to Ao Soul.

What was going through your head when you got your very first skate sponsor? what were your reactions?
I honestly couldn't believe it was happening.  I emailed Scott Walker at Big Dan, asked for skates and ever since then things kept on happening with rollerblading.  It was a dream come true.

What did you do with the money you won from atlanta x-trails? 2. What contest was your favorite to skate in? (if ASA, what stop, if IMYTA, what stop etc.)?
It was Grand Prairie, Texas.  I got home and paid cash for my GL1.  Then got a girlfriend and lived like a rich 19 year old..  My favorite contest would have to be X Games Philadelphia.

Seems like rollerblading is your biggest addiction, as you said that you would completly stop skating, and then few months later get back on skates and make an awsome edit for us. How could you describe your feelings towards this sport?
My feelings for rollerblading go far beyond just the sport.  I've met so many friends and amazing people along this crazy journey I've been on.  Good and bad times...  This whole experience along with my head injury have made me who I am today.  iLoveRollerblading!

I need a replacement pole for my Northface tadpole tent ... i know you work for backcountry.com ... can you hook it up with a discount? please?

You have my number!!  I'll see what I can do and you make sure to dial the digits to get a hold of me.

Yeah, why did you switch from Valo to Remz... After your accident you emphesized on how none of your sponsors dropped you... and suddenly you were skating remz.

The only real sponsors I had when I hit my head were Able, and SWS.  Valo/Julio were just nice enough to give me some skates every now and then.  I was never asked to be on any team for Valo.  When I finally decided to start rollerblading again me and some friends decided we wanted to go out to AZ to visit James and Gretchen at Revolution.  I saw the OS1's on the wall, tried them on, and really liked the way they felt.  Gretchen talked me into getting enough confidence to ask Kato if I could get some skates.  Kato said YES and now here I am skating OS2's

Thank you Jon Julio, Kato, James, and Gretchen!!

Why haven't you made the switch to bikes like every good rollerblader should  have done?
Honestly, I think every good rollerblader should not make a switch to skiing but defiantly pick a pair up and take over that industry!

After your accident there was a lot of doubt from others as well as yourself whether or not you'd make a comeback. Do you think that doubt made you want to come back more or was it just a matter of time after the healing process?
I think it was just a matter of time..  I couldn't have come back without the people who care about me.

Why did everyone used to think you and bambi were brothers?
Don and I met at a BCSD one year and both of us had people say we looked like each other..  so we decided we'd get it printed in a mag saying we were brothers.  It happened and we just went along with it.

Photo by Hayden Eatchel. A little local park we call Sandy Park. Traveling air from the spine to the little tranny.

Also what can we expect from Cameron in the months to come? Will there be an appearance in the ONE video?
If One wanted I'd film a whole section for them.  I'm just going to be shooting photos and chilling on my injured ankle until I can fully heal.  There is talk about a New video project I'd like to start but that is just talk.  Also I'll have a full section in Park 2.

How's RollMart coming along?
Jeff Stanger is handling that very well!

Favorite Negative Trick?
Grabbed Makio or Ao Mistrile

Favorite Skater at the moment?
Soichiro Kanashima

Favorite section?
Soichiro Kanashima in "Ride Out"

Trick that still freaks you out?
Tourqes...

I never changed who I am for an image, everything I say, and everything I do is all me. I just want to thank everyone that's helped me along the way. From giving me a car ride to flying me to europe or even just love and support. Thank You!
