Deshi CK II Review

The Deshi CK II’s were not my first pair of Deshi’s. I have already been skating the second model Deshi produced and because of this I was not expecting too much. But let me tell you, a lot has happened since the earlier days of Deshi. Not only the colours were changed, there is also a whole bunch of extra features. When I skated the Deshi CK II’s for the first time I was extremely surprised by their hardness. At first I even thought that they are way to hard, but after a few hours of skating it got better and the flex was quite comfortable.

So, let’s start with the boot. The design of the boot is simple and clean. This means that it will fit any other style, it can be combined with any kind of clothes and skater. Inside the cuff you can find a little, removable internal cuff which adds more stiffness and support. If you want your skates a bit more flexible you can simply remove it as well as put it back in if you want to. What I also found very good is that the skate does not get as soft as the older models did. They did not give you any ankle support after some time but here the skate stays in shape and will not kill your ankles.

The boot is very light. It has only got around 1300g including liner, shock absorber and innersole. The souls have also been reworked. Now they are lighter and smaller than the old ones. If you want to make the skate even lighter you can take off the Deshi souls and ad USD dual plates, which is what I did. Even though the groove and the grinding performance of the original souls was great I wanted it to be lighter and to pimp it a bit. USD dual plates might be a bit slower but they are really stylish and light as a feather. And I also think that they give you a more direct feeling and much better control.

The liner of the Deshi CK II’s is a Sifika liner. At first I though it might be to thin, but I was proofed wrong. It might look a bit thin, but there is no reason to add more material where it is necessary. Inside the liner you will find a small shock absorber as well as the Kizer Triple Shock Innersole which supports the entire base of the foot. It is also said that a new technique has been used to make the shock absorbers even better. This chequered innersole is not only functional but stylish as hell. The shock absorbers and innersoles of the Deshi CK II’s take away a lot of impact and help to protect your knees.

The Deshi CK II’s are great for every kind of grind, especially if you use the USD dual souls. The only thing that’s a bit disturbing is that you sometimes touch a rail with the inside of the boot which will slow you down quite a bit. If you use dual plates you have got a little less negative space, but this should not hinder you to try it out. Another advantage of the dual plates is that they are totally even and perfect for chess slides. All in all I think this skate is worth the money and you will not regret your purchase.
