IMYTA Winner I-view: Nick Lomax - 06/09/29

After interviewing Benny Harmanus we bring you the interview with the 2nd winner, Nick Lomax. Benny and him shared the victory. Read about his view on the IMYTA and about him winning the comp.

Nick, props for winning the IMYTA+, has it sunk in yet?

Thanks man, na it hasn't really sunk in yet, I'm just looking on the internet like woow! I think it will do soon but it's still mental, my body still feels like I've been in the gym for a month non stop, but a nice sleep will rid that. So yea I'm just really juiced, still celabrating man!

Any words about Benny Harmanus since you shared the win?

Respect to benny man, his last trick was such a hammer, how do you even consider that trick? I was more than happy that we both won, two countries take home the win. Benny is also really cool to speak to and a safe guy.
well done Benny!!

Have you ever done the tricks you did in the finals on spots like the final steep rail?

I've done them on rails before but never a drop rail, I kinda just had to blank out that it was a drop rail, and pretend it was just a normal rail.
Mental though.

How's your ankle? You stopped skating right at the end cos you got hurt right?

Yeah man my ankles gunna be cool I think, it was the impact of the last drop rail that did it. It was hurting from the start but as I skated more it got worse.. until I couldnt skate. I had x-rays and nothing's wrong so yeaaa!

Did you ever think that you could win the IMYTA one day?

I never really thought about winning, I just wanted to be a part of it, just to say I was there and competed.. winning it is craazy, I'm just proud and juiced that I won, each question I answer i think it does sink in a bit more, ha! Siiick!

This was you first time in Amsterdam right? What did you think of the place?

This was my second time, last years event I broke my frames on the second spot which was a kiln, Amsterdam is the best though, I can't really remember much of what happend but that makes it all the better, shows you had a good time! Definatly goin back soon!

How did the IMYTA+ weekend compare to other events you've been to?

Nothing in the world compares to the IMYTA, I've been to three now, and each one of them were amazing! Just to see all your friends, people you don't see very often and chill. Especially in Amsterdam, there was such a buzz going around all the time, everyone was juiced! I advise if you haven't been to an event then go! It's alll about the afterparties man!!

What were some tricks that stood out the most in your opinion?

Basically anything Jacob Juul did.. that guy's amazing! 360 top acid to soul
3 out, booom. Chaz's 450 royale was a beast, Murda murderd the ledges, fish is also just the best, cross grab front torque? And defo benny's trick man... shit, i dunno how I even got through!

So have you spent the prize money already?!

Haha no not yet, I'll save it to travel to more comp's, hopefully go to hoedown, and travel to a few asa stops. And a few other essentials ;)

So what plans have you got for the next few months?

Basically travel as much as I can, I've got a few sections coming up, so filming for them will be jokes. Obviously after my ankle's cool. I have a pro wheel for ukskate.com coming soon too so that's cool. I dunno, chill I guess for now man.

How do you feel about the companies that approached you as soon as you won?

And how do you feel about your current sponsors?
Don't really feel anything about them aproaching me, I just told folks I was happy were I was. USD are not only the best skates, but they treat me well and are good friends so I'm happy.

Any shoutouts?

Shout out and thanks to everyone involved in the IMYTA, thanks for an amazing weekend and comp. Thanks to USD, ukskate.com, Kizer, Undercover and Ucon. And basically everyone I know... espesh all the boyziz from manchester, thank you and safe to you all! PEACE!! MCR

Lomax you are the man, i still owe you those two beers, so does gijs owe me 2 beers for telling him that you were gonna win.

We will look after you, you need a backrub? clean your skates for you?

haha congrats man, you deserved it, people were all on your jock like you were sliced bread and had only just been invented…even though sliced bread does get a bit boring after a while, theres only so much you can do with it.
