Ignition DVD Review - 07/01/10
Finally people have the possibility to buy the first ever Ignition DVD. But ‘first Ignition DVD’ may sound a bit misleading because you don’t just get one DVD, you will get two DVDs for your money! The DVD package contains the Ignition DVD 2006 and the Ignition Tour DVD 2006. The Intro to the Ignition DVD starts with a lot of fire… but what else could you expect from a company called Ignition?!?
The first rider with a complete profile is Jonathan von Kralik. Everyone that knows him knows why he is also called ‘the tank’. His tricks are often unbelievable and you get the impression that he for sure doesn’t know what being afraid means! The tricks in his section are pretty sick and I think that you can also say that if you compare his section with sections from well known pros. The only thing I don’t like is that the music just doesn’t match with his skating.
The Sounds and Friedericke Reisch, two names that make my heart beat faster! The music and the skating are really good and totally match each other. Hard, clean tricks and sweet lines, what else could you wish for? The whole section does a great job in transporting Frieda’s friendly and happy nature. After you have seen this you might also say that Frieda most definitely is the best female rollerblader in Europe if not in the whole world.
People from Germany, Austria, Hungary, the USA, Denmark and perhaps even other countries are shown in the mixed section. The sound is pretty hot and the niveau of the tricks is also quite good. Bart Laubsch is the guy who has most tricks in this part of the DVD and this is great. Whoever has seen him before knows what I’m talking about. Up next is the section of the boss himself, Leo Donhauser. He shows that he knows how to bust out on a set of wheels. His tricks are, as usually, clean and damn fast.
Ignition Valley… here you can see who has been visiting Ignition. There are people like Chris Haffey, Rachard Johnson, Jon Elliott, Brian Shima, Cosimo Tassone and many more. The tricks are only filmed at the skatepark or at Ignition’s own round ledge but they are still quite sick! It really seems as if the Ignition Valley is a meeting point for the who’s who of rollerblading. Perhaps it would be best to go there and have a look yourself!?
Thomas Thellmann… there are reasons why he is riding for Vicious and 4X4. He is an extremely nice guy and not stuck up because of his great skills. But this does also not mean that he is doing some big drop shit all the time, he is able to impress with his style and creativity. This section definitely is a must-see!
The Party Section contains destruction of the worst kind possible. You can witness the usual Ignition-party-destruction and some really harsh slams. This is the section you should better not show your parents! The next guy to tear it up is Jojo Jacobi. You can’t expect any technical switch-ups or something like that, but you will get to see sick gaps and trick you normally don’t see.
The Ignition Criminals… this section proofs that everyone at Ignition can skate. The designer, the sales clerk, the team riders and the team show some pretty nice skating. Especially Gagi and Dominik Wagner show that they are masters of their art! To finish the whole thing of you are served some special dish… Mister Harmanus and his homies proof that people in Frankfurt love to play with fire!
The filming, the editing and the design of the DVD are of good quality. The same can bes said about the Tour DVD which has been filmed by Burnt and Gabriel Hyden. The whole tour feeling and the insanity of the parties is presented very well. But I recommend you to check it out yourself because there are no words with which you could properly describe the Tour DVD.
