LG Championship - 07/11/11

We got to the LG just in time for the Final heats. The course was huge, one of the biggest launch ramps I’ve seen at a course. Super drop in, real sick, and a big droprail. It went off, really good skating. Haffey was doing 900s twice the size of the launch box which was already huge. Skating looked really good as a whole. The crowd was going off, and the girls were skating the best I’ve ever seen.

Haffey winns once again!

Stockwell didn't miss a single trick, most solid run trick after trick. Haffey's 2nd heat didn't miss a trick and killed it. Broskow was supersolid. Aragon was next level as usual. Jeerasak Tassorn from Thailand had the most ninja corkscrew late 900s. I could go on and on, but overall the level of the competition was top notch.

After all the heats, Haffey took his 4th consecutive major comp victory, and the Final Standings went like this.

1st) Chris Haffey $10,000
2nd) Jeerasak Tassorn $7500
3rd) Alex Broskow $5000
4th) Jeff Stockwell $4500ish
5th) Erik Bailey $3500

In addition to all the skating we got front row access to Kanye West and Ludacris concerts. YEEAHHHH

Yeah it was cool and all, but the runs were wierd, like haffey did like 4 tricks in his whole run. Since when did we forget how to put together a good line in a park? So from an abstract viewpoint (i.e. from the perspective of someone who doesn’t skate) it didn’t look that impressive.

Looks like a sick comp. Glad to see Haffey and the human rollers get some actual cash for their blood and sweat. I love Rollerblading.

thats the way rolling needs to continue to go. Big shows big audiences, corporate backings, 5 figure contest winnings, major celebs on the performance tip. This needs to continue so the rolling revolution can progress. Much props go out to all the skaters who hold it down.
