DVD Review: The Truth - 07/12/31

The Truth is the first collaboration between Austin Paz and Brotherly Love™. I have seen Austin’s photos as well as his skating. Knowing how capable he is in everything he does can only make you juiced to buy this DVD. Colin and Sean Kelso are also well known for their outstanding skating. These three guys working together sounds like the perfect mix for a great success!

Austin Paz filming in Texas

The Intro: Rage Against The Machine is the perfect band for an opening section. The rough music mixed with absolutely crazy tricks wakes you up and makes you hungry for more. Dominic Sagona is the most outstanding skater of all. I have not seen a Training Wheel in years… I know that most skaters could do this trick if they wanted to. But not many could do them like Dominic… It’s just impossible to do this on a handrail!!!

Sean Kelso: This guy is the master of the one footed trick. Colin not only does the sickest combos since Mike ‘Murda’ Johnson he also has got a great selection of spots. This is not the usual rail-rail-gap-rail section, this is something truly creative. One of the hardest combos in this section is a 450 BS Torque to True Fishy!

Sean Kelso - 270 FS Torque 270 Revert

Austin Paz: Austin Skates like you were taught to skate 10 years ago. He is getting low on the tricks he does and he is doing tons of nice lines. It is way harder to do 3 decent tricks in a row than to land a single hammer for a clip. This is the first Austin Paz section I saw and I really enjoyed it. His skating also goes along with the rap song used for his section as well as his Wu-Tang shirt!

Franco Cammayo: All that comes to my mind if you ask me about his section is rails next to walls and his insane Outspin Rough Sweaty on a fat long rail. This guy has been around for ages. The first time I saw him was in the New York issue of Daily Bread. Franco’s skating looks so solid and controlled. You can really see that his skating had time enough to mature over the years. This section is a banger!

Colin Kelso: Like his brother Colin is known for his sick combos. But their style is totally different. Most of the tricks Colin does would not even come into your mind until you see him doing them. Ever thought of doing a Zerospin Rocket Makio to 270 BS Backslide?!? I bet not! 90% of Colin’s section consist of dope lines. Even though Colin has had quite a few sections recently every single one of them motivates you to go out and have fun.

Colin Kelso in Philly

Chris Cheshire: Chris Cheshire has changed so much since Underestimated. He is the latest addition to the Deshi Pro team. This section shows why. I loved his section in Underestimated and I love his section in the Truth. Back in the day he used to do the craziest combos. In this section he is still doing these combos but he also does more single, solid tricks. It is way more enjoyable if you have a section that is not all about doing as many Switchups as possible. This is definitely my favourite Cheshire section so far.

Billy O’Neill: This is the best section on the whole DVD! The only thing I would change is the song which should be a bit faster and more powerful to match his aggressive skating. I love his skating because it is not too perfect. Billy makes rollerblading look hard and makes people realise how sick it really is. His Rocket Bio’s and Cross Grab tricks are epic. No one can do them like he does. Billy is the perfect choice for the closing section!

Franco Cammayo - Christ Fishy

The Truth really concentrates on the profiled skaters. This guarantees for a high skating level and a high quality DVD. There is no friends section or something like this. The Intro and the outro are the only sections which show other skaters. In my opinion this is one of the best releases of 2007! The filming and the editing are good and I would really like to see a second DVD by Austin Paz and Brotherly Love™!

I just got this video today. I can honestly say this is one of the illest videos I’ve ever seen. It’s seriously that good.

I watch nearly every single skate video that comes out and the last time I was this psyched was when Accidental Machines came out a year ago.

The Kelso brothers are not human.

Austin Paz has a REALLY good section in this video. I wasn’t expecting his skating to have progressed this much since the last time I saw him skate. Austin Paz is as legit as they come.

I honestly can’t believe how good these guys are at making skate videos. The production quality alone is a 10 out of 10.

You guys honestly need to cop this video.

@ ericct: I think that “makes skating look hard” can be a compliment because such a section would impress any outstandig person way more than seeing Aragon making rollerblading look waaaaaay too easy! It’s just what Shima and Latimer were doing back in the day… pure, hard looking skating!
