DVD Review: Blood, Pride & True 2/2 - 08/04/07

PROS:
-What I like most about Daniel Kinney's work is that all of the graphics work is always done right, everything is clean and done the way it should be. Daniel does a great job of making sure everything looks the way it should, which is a big plus compared to most videos.

-The intro graphics are really well done, showcasing almost everything Sixwonsix has ever captured on video over the last decade.

-The newest and possibly the last Cameron Card section you will ever see. This section should have been the last section in the video in my opinion, it really is that good! It's unfortunate because this probably would have been the section that opened a lot of eyes to how good Cameron really is. This section has everything!

-Don Bambrick's section is shorter than his Icons section, but still just as impressive. Don is quickly living up to the Razor's pro team with back to back good sections. I'm not going to go into detail about how good he is, but his last trick is amazing, and he also fishbrains a brick kinked ledge.

-Brian Murphy has huge gaps and manual tricks in section which is really cool to see.

-The flow of this video is great, it doesn't get boring. The DVD seems short, but it really isn't which is a good thing. The interviews are actually entertaining which is rare. You also get a ton of bonus stuff like the original Sixwonsix videos by Drew Blood, which is amazing to see!

-The best thing about this video is that it was done the way a video should be. Sixwonsix had ads in every major publication, they had a huge premier, and most of all they had a website dedicated to the production of the video that was actually updated constantly. The DVD was also finished and released right on schedule which was due to Daniel Kinney being a true professional in what he does.

CONS:
-J.C. Rowe only has a handful of clips, which sucks because he is good.

-Gary Murphy's style doesn't always make up for his sometimes small trick vocabulary. However I think he is definitely getting better and better all the time, and once his tricks get a little tougher he'll already have the the best style to go along with it.

-I didn't like Mikey Blair's section too much, but every other person who I've asked really liked it, so it must just be me. Some of tricks were sloppy I thought, but in a few years he'll definitely be very good.

-Brian Murphy had a few clips that I didn't really care for, but that is all just an opinion of what you like.

OVERALL:
This video truly has something for everyone. I'm just waiting for a company to actually put up the money to do a team video the way it should be done and give the skaters involved more than 6 months a few tours to collect their footage. Sixwonsix has been around for ever, and by looks of this DVD they aren't going anywhere any time soon.
