DVD Review: BHC Corporate Killers - 08/04/17

Corporate Killers is the latest DVD brought to you by the Black Hearted Collaboration. It features profiles of their team riders Albert Hooi, Leon Humphries, Eric Perkett, Fraser Watson, Alex Jones and Alex Burston. As BHC claims this is ‘a film fueled by anger’. This lets everybody hope for some death-defying stunts. The intro to ‘Corporate Killers’ is full of all sorts of absolutely insane tricks. In my eyes the black and white footage helps to communicate how raw and harsh the tricks are. This DVD isn’t called ‘Corporate Killers’ for no reason! I just found one little thing could be a turn off. But I’m not even sure about this little thing I found. On the one hand you could say that it is a flaw that there are some tricks in the intro which have already been used in other videos. But on the other hand who doesn’t enjoy seeing Frazer Watson’s disaster True Top Porn from ‘Steal This Video’ again!?



The first section is Frazer Watson’s. It is by far the best Frazer Watson section I have ever seen. He definitely has got some skills. To my surprise there were no 450’s or 540’s intro grinds. This is good because this makes his skating look more fluid and less forced. Most of the tricks in his section are smooth and his style is really nice. But this doesn’t mean that he isn’t dropping hammers. Up next is Alex Jones. He has got a good paced, solid section. The skating as well as the music are fast and entertaining. You can see that this guy is no young gun and that he really knows how to make his tricks look good.

BHC is introducing Alex Burston with a damn nice section in ‘Corporate Killers’. His section is a bit too short for my taste. But it is packed with very clean and stylish tricks. I don’t know why but somehow Alex reminded me of Don Bambrick in ‘Bang!’... It might be the clothes and his style!? I definitely hope to see more of this guy in the near future. Leon Humphries has got a huge trick vocabulary which makes sure you won’t see the same tricks again and again. His skating is fast and he does every trick with full commitment. I don’t think he ever thinks about what could go wrong.

According to Dre Powell Albert Hooi is silent but deadly. It is unbelievable how calm and relaxed Al’s skating looks. Every single one of his tricks looks sooo controlled. He can not bee squeezed into categories like ‘rail skater’, ‘tech rat’ or ‘stunt seeker’ because he owns them all! His skating abilities opens up a whole lot of spots which ‘normal’ people would never skate. How can you do a 270 BS Torque on a square wooden handrail? How can you 540 out of a Topacid on a ledge?

The finishing section is Eric Percett’s. He is introduced with some really nasty slams! The music to his section is a hard and fast metal song and goes well with his kind of skating. Nipple high handrails are no problem for this monster. Eric’s section is packed with tricks you could easily die on. He is one of the skaters really are risking their lives with the gnarliest gaps in rollerblading’s history. Whether you think this is good or not is up to you! If you want to buy something like the last Dough Urquhart or Carl Sturgess flicks this DVD will not meet your expectations. But if you want so see something different than the American ‘superstars’ go for this DVD!
