Last session in Ecuador - Monday, November 27, 2006 at 22:49 - By JERO

Well the presidential elections went down on Sunday, and there was a huge celebration in the streets. In addition to the celebration were some fights from “not so happy about the outcome” people, but all in all it was an eventful evening. We hit the local skatepark for a while (you may remember it from the 4×4 video when haffey does the steep kink rail into a huge crowd of 4000 people). Then we hit up a local curve ledge spot. Shooting photos was tricky; we would have 2 guys on lookout with Memo in the car incase anything went down. We shot a few photos until theives would see all the camera gear. Once our “guards” spot the theives lurking, we throw all the equpiment in the car and drive away. Maybe security guards aren’t so bad after all, eh? Anyways, enjoy the last pics of the live update, I’m going to the airport bright and early. Ecuador has a really good vibe in their skate scene, and some great spots and parks if you find yourself south of the equator. Thanks to everybody who made this possible, PEACE!

Ecuador lifestyle pics - Monday, November 27, 2006 at 22:32 - By JERO

Had a few days of hanging out and seeing a few parts of Ecuador. There was a big soccer game between Ecuador Ntl. and Barcelona (local not spain) We went to Memo’s hometown of Babahoya and had a great time there. No skating photos in this post, but enjoy the pics from another part of our world.

Last Day for the Santee folks - Friday, November 24, 2006 at 00:10 - By JERO

Today was the last day for Damien and Nick, we actually just dropped them off at the airport. Last night Damien was busy chasing his island dreams while Nick made the mistake of eating some expired shrimp. Needless to say, Damien didn’t show up until this morning and had no money left, and Nick was sick with food poisoning all day. That didn’t stop us from having some intense football (thats soccer for you americanos) juggling with Memo’s friends and family. This morning Nick was shivering, shaking and making weird noises, and will probably get pulled aside for additional screening at the airport due to the face that 1) he looks like osama bin ladin, and 2) the shakes from the food poisoning will likely make the security guards a bit skeptical. Anyhow, best of luck for those 2 getting home. Since Nick was out of commission and Damiens knee was shattered, it was Ecuadorian skating only. We went back to the ledge park and people were throwing down on the square drop kink rails and the nicely angled ledges. Check the pics for details. Sandro almost darkside souled / topsouled the gnar bar, but after a few rough falls and close attempts he decided to save it for another day. All the locals were rippin it up. Chichu’s dad even showed up at the park on his bike to hang out, and had some bracelet gifts for us. Thanks again! We are checking the weather to see what’s possible in the next few days for skating. Nick and Damien both had amazing trips and were bummed to have to leave allready. Happy trails guys. !!!Oh yea!!!... also very important. We are trying to test the myth about water swirling in other directions south of the equator. We have photos that prove that it goes counter clockwise, but now we cant remember what it is the in USA. If anybody would be kind enough to flush their toilet in the northern hemisphere and let us know which way your water is spinning, please comment this live update and let us know. Thanks!

Another sunny day in Guayaquil - Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 18:21 - By JERO

Woke up to an amazing breakfast, and we went out skating shortly after. Damien got lured into the mujeres of Ecuador and was MIA on a date for a few hours. We hit some sick spots, including a park with amazing ledges. Cruised around the city for a while checking out the scenery. We hit up some more spots, including an old rusty drop rail. Sandro also took us to a rediculous 2 1/2 story drop rail but decided not to try it. The rail started late and he would have had to disaster it. Not to mention it was a spot that sold wreaths for the cemetary across the street, not the best omen for doing a death stunt. Also a note about the photos: Memo informed me we weren’t in the best area of town, so we weren’t able to pull out all our equipment out at each spot due to lurking theives. We had a great lunch / dinner / nap session, and now we’re going back out to meet all the guys at the usual night spot with some ledges and BRAMIAMOS!!!! peace
