Bored of your constant same designs? Be-Mag paris sessions - issue 21

So I guess you’ve had the same experience as I do. You walk into any random newsstand, flip through other "XTreme sport mags" or other "lifestyle & streetculture" mags. And what do you notice? Everything looks the same. Same way of design, no changes, issue for issue looks the same.

Doesn’t matter if you got a skateboard there, a snowboard there or a sprayer. This is the reason why we here at Be-Mag design EVERY single issue from scratch and work together with the top designers from the industry.

For this issue, the Paris sessions were designed in a special way. all the pictures were printed out, cut with scissors, put together and glued together again with other elements and were than photographed to have your designed story at the end. This is a little hommage to the punk DIY mentality for fan zines.
The Paris sessions were again a great experience, it just showed that rolling is so strong throughout different scenes. That is why we strive to cover skating on a global scale and offer you the diversity that defines rolling in one single issue of Be-Mag. Get your copy of Be-Mag now!

I like to see more pages like this every once in a while. they look good and “crafty”...

Well, i honestly don’t know….
I’m sorry to tell you, but the great shots is basically why people buy your magazine…so you should give the reader whatever he wants to see so he continues buying your magazine.
the main focus should always remain on the photos.

anything else like this whole “art discussion” just reminds me of fucked up people who think they’re sooooo intelectual so and soooo creative that they have to create something everybody hates except for themselves.

Be-Mag still kicks fuckin ass and i love you guys for putting out such a sick ass magazine.
So take this critic please as an input and not as an hate post.

Yes, itīs the imperfection that makes the difference. The little differences in the color for example, the breaks in the paper or this little wooden stick holding the helicopter. And most of all, it was great fun.

why shoot pictures with analog cameras? why paint something if you have photoshop? this is getting into an essential discussion about digital vs. analog! even though everything is computer based nowadays there are things that can still be done smoother on real paper. be it writing something or drawing something, cutting things, re-arranging them, etc… . computer based this still has a feeling of something unreal or digital..

I didn`t saw that article, but why make all that work?
When you could done it all in photoshop in a lot less time, with better results.

yeah we want to try around and experiment also with each issue and not always have the same 08/15 design issue for issue. then we could also have a standard design and just drop in our shots there and that’s it. would also be a lot less work ;). We cannot please everyone with each single article, that is why there are so many pages in be-mag, so you see different styles, different approaches in tricks, skating and ultimately also in design. we leave the readers the choice by giving them a big selection of differnent things in one issue instead of forcing them to go in a single direction for example.

I loved it hehehe. You guys should fingerpaint the next issue :) hahahaha

the stlye is pretty interesting, what I did not like about it that much was, that somehow the main focus on the trick got lost, cause there was too much around it, it was a bit confusiong, to find out which part had to be with the trick an which not (not on all but on some)
style was OK but a bit too playfull maybe

I know you guys dont’t wanna hear this but i really thought the Paris article sucked….pretty much due to its design.

Thanks for the props mike.
It was a harsh piece of work to cut all this stuff and glue it together again.
Rollerblading is progressive, Be-Mag was progressive, is progressive and will always be. So why not stepping on new paths designwise…
