hey, i decided to make a similiar post to RollTRSRoll's but with a poll so we could see the overall statistics. i'm very interested in this as an educational tool- i am currently working on a "picking skates that fit/getting the right size skate" reference/informational article for the site. it'll be kinda similiar to my re/previews in that it will be very in-depth and technical, and hopefully give some real insight into skate performance and characteristics.

so, log in, respond to the poll, and once we get a few dozen responses and i've got my article up, i'll respond with some interesting experiments for you all to perform. if you'd like, make note of which skate you ride in your post, and what sizes you wear in other footwear (shoes, ski boots, other skates, etc.).

guess i might as well be the first to reply....... i wear a 9 or 9.5 in accurately-sized skates (like "classic"-boot k2's, old razors, etc.), in skates that run big, like my last few pairs (new k2's, TRS, Genesys-shell razors, etc) i normally wear an 8 or 8.5.

in shoes, i usually wear 9.5, sometimes 9.

snowboard boots, usually 9, sometimes 8.5.

i'm currently riding size 8 TRS's.

i forgot to mention, if you know what your foot measures on a US shoe size scale, post that. mine are about 9.75 length, D width.

I used to ride a size 10 skate when I first started rolling and my feet are a size 9 and i tryed on my friends size 8 skates and skated so much better with them. I know have size 8 stockwells but those are even to big (they run big also) the next skates I get are going to be size 7s depending on the company. If you ride a pair of kstaes that are too big for you, then your not doing yourslef a favor. My ski boots are size 7.5

Hmm...

I seem to fit comfortably in size 9 for the old style Remedyz. With the NEW Remz being bigger, I'd wear size 8.

But, if I wanted as much grinding space as possible, I'd wear a size 20 (if skates came that big).

And when Gary Murphy says he wears a size "famous", you better believe him! I've seen this guy live and in person before, and he certainly IS a size famous!

Tek, Deshis are much looser fitting than most skates, and UFS Thrones are meant to be one of the tightest, so yeah, a 12 Deshi will be much better for you.

5.5 or 5 salomons. the models depend. i fit into fallon heffernans 4.5 softboot(vinny1) they run way bigger than the first edition(sti international which a 5 seems tight on me) the hard boots i can make a 5 or a 5.5 work.

i wear a 6.5 womens shoe and a 6 mens depending on the brand and model. i have some nikes that are 4.5 kids as well as addidas... and i know kids shoes go way bigger than that .. word of advice.. kids shoes are way cheaper and a lot of them are the same so there yo ugo. peace.

side note: it pisses me off that 10 and 11 are almost always grouped together. that means I either deal with heavier, bulkier skates than I need or I attempt to squish my feet into the size down and that never seems to work either.

another thing that bothers me with thrones and new remz is the weight and structure difference between 8/9 shell and 10/11 shell. unfortunately I really like these skate brands but that means I have to deal with a skate that is longer than it needs to be, but also A LOT heavier. I think they make the boot thicker or something with the 10/11 b/c the 8/9 are so light and then you go one size up and get tanks. the remz also have a huge squarish toe box that adds weight and bulkyness.

basically I used to ride 11 in the old remz and they are maybe 1/4 longer than the new 8/9 remz. the old 11's were just the right size-putting up with some stubbed toes but they fit like shoes-but now if I go to 9 I will probably kill my feet but the 10's are probably the heaviest skate I've ever ridden.

everything else about the remz is great and they are still probably my favorite skate but when they got with sunshine they started grouping shells sizes where as before they didn't and I also think they made the 10/11 extra wide in the toe to fit after market liners in them which is stupid too b/c remz liners are so nice and if someone wanted to fit a poofy liner in they could either deal with it and the liner would form and pack down or buy a size up and it would be the same as what you get now.

the 8-9 shell sucked and the liner would stretch to a 9 giving me way to much movement inside the boot

I've been skating Remz for the past 5 years, or well, about 6 months after the 03ones came out I got a pair from Rob G. (namedrop!) Over all the time I've had them I've skated 9s, 8s here and there when they came around. The 9 stock is much too big for me, but I've always been the type to pack my skates with insoles to make them all soft and squishy. The 9s I can load with 2 nice insoles plus the shock absorbers. 8s fit perfect out of the box though.

I probably should skate a sz 10 but am usually left with a bit too much room in the toes. Most 9's are too small due to my wide feet, and some toe bang. So my foot is 9.5, and wide.

The most comfortable hard boot size 9 I have skated is the Aragon2/ Razors SL boot. The xsjados were the most comfortable skate all around, but I prefer the performance of a hard shell. I currently skate the sz 9 REMZ OS2s. I find the OS2s very responsive but some of the comfort is lost in the balance.

Liners are very important to the comfort of my skates. I like thinner liners. Size 9 JUG liners are like marshmellows (although my current ones have tongue slide), while Sifka sz 9 are a no go for me.

I think major modification needs to go into making throne boots just a bit wider. they crush my feet, they are so fukn narrow. razor size 10's shouldnt look/feel like spaceboots. rem os size 10 shouldnt look like spaceboots either.


considering almost everyone wears around size 10 or 9.... this might be useful for some companies to peep out if they really want me, the customer, to sport their product!

if you have normal fairy feet, you are an exception!
