I think a professional needs to be nice. He is a representive of a company and a sport meaning that he should act accordingly.

Lets not forget about being a kid. Being a little kid and getting to see your favorite pro is one of the best experiences one can have. Okay, let's look at this way (and this is addressed to Lonnie). Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Haffey collect paychecks from the LG in '06 & '07? The same years that said epic sections were filmed, correct?

Now regardless of what paycheck it was, (REMZ, LG, other comps that paid him those years) but put it into his annual salary. From what I understand, and correct me if I'm wrong, Haffey is one of the few pros that are actual "professional" skaters (meaning he doesn't have a side job to pay the bills). Since he is free to skate everyday, didn't this give you (Lonnie) a much better opportunity at creating said "epic" sections? The logic behind that, more opportunities to skate, more opportunities to capture clips, more clips to choose from. In turn, the better the section, the more hype is creasted around your video, the more sales you make; the more sales you make, the more you profit (or better opportunity for you to break even).

I'm sure the LG pay check didn't make or break Haffey's life style (being that the LG is our only corp. comp), but that's over 10g's he made in 2 days(a good chunk of my yearly salary). I'm also sure that the "Alfano" incident isn't the reason the LG is considering dropping skating from their event either, but I would bet (if we are dropped) that was the icing on the cake. What IF the LG was thinking about continuing us for another year b/c they thought we are coming around, and say the "dew tour" was also willing to jump on the bandwagon (another huge paycheck) b/c they saw the LG having success with the event. This is all hypothetical BTW, but now since LG is backing out, any other corporate sponsor w/ interest is gonna think twice. You can like coprorate sponsors or not, but they bring the $

Regardless, you would still be making your video (which I enjoy BTW), but doesn't the chain of events eventually effect the "epicicity" :lol: of your videos? Doesn't the corporate dollar give more skater's the opportunity of the "haffey" lifestyle, allowing you more opportunities to film them for your videos? I bet JC Rowe wouldn't turn down a corporate paycheck, and I bet you wouldn't deny the chance at getting to film him everyday.

There is a huge difference between Stephane, Brandon Campbell, and Aaron Feinberg.

Brandon Campbell may have done some obnoxious shit, but he always tried to make sure everyone around him was having a good time.

I only met Aaron once when he first moved to the FP house, but he was really down to earth and modest.


Stephane has embarrassed himself in a handful of countries and actively tries to prevent others from succeeding by blocking obstacles or shit talking.

I'm pretty sure that this is not a behavior pattern followed by the vast majority of real professionals and is unprecedented, otherwise you would hear about it somewhere from this network of information we have built.

Even if the dude is good. As a Pro skater, he/she should have a complete package. Meaning, good at skating, but also having a positive attitude, and making his sponsors and sport look good. In my opinion, he just showed all of us, that he is a whiny bitch and very unprofessional, because he didn't get first. As for the Feinberg argument, Feinberg never bitched about what place he came in. He's come in first at plenty of contest, mainly because, he was on some next level shit, and knew how to impress the judges. Feinberg may have been a dick to kids, but he never acted like an ass at contests and bitched about what place he came in.
I'm boycotting all conference products as well, until I know he's kicked off the team. If you think we need a guy like this in rollerblading, please proceed to get the fuck out, and don't let the door hit you in the ass. This is aggressive skating, and a lot of people in this sport havent been brought up in happy families in pretty towns with lots of money, and have some behaviour issues. However i warned him when he first joined that representing Deshi, i was happy to have him on the team as long as he behaved himself to a certain degree.

He almost blew it in Barcelona, but calmed down, in Liverpool there were signs he was close again to kicking up a fuss, but he controlled it, so far, so good.

I understand people wanting to see a new badass icon of the sport. I mean 99.9 percent of the time when my friends and I are talking about badass tricks from dudes who are actually badass skaters, we are talking about stuff feinberg did.

I believe however that you become that kind of icon by mixing a lack of regard for the rules and being a bit crazy but also just simply doing alot of rollerblading that no one can fuck with, you have the badass attitude to back up the badass tricks and put them together.

I find it insane that those stories about yelling during someones run to mess them up or getting in their way during a line can even be true and somehow still have people saying he is some sort of rebel.

Fuck I didnt know the dude personally but my guess is that aaron feinberg dominated the asa and gravity games events by doing shit that no one could match at the time (my favorite example being the fakie 9, first trick in usd tour video) and doing all sorts of stunts that just could not be outdone.
I dont think he did it by trying to screw up the next skaters line out of fear that their tricks may be better because you know why? he was a badass and he probably didnt give a fuck either way? If he won, fuck yeah, he just got a shit load of money now he can go spend it on some crazy shit and love his lifestyle...if he didnt, he was still the most badass dude around and pushing the sport to the limit during the events. I also bet aaron would choose to simply get stoned as fuck if he didnt win a contest and just get ready for the afterparty. I dont think crying and publicly disrespecting the judges (all of which are among the most respected people in our industry) was on the agenda.

I dont know what I can say because kids have already brought the lulz, but I guess as someone who loves the rollerblading industry with everything he has and has been working his hardest for a long time to do something inside the industry out of the sheer desire to chase a dream and love EVERY FUCKING MINUTE OF IT, its hard to see someone get supported that seems to have all the talent and none of the respect and attitude to push our sport forward. Not everyone will do the biggest gap, skate the best street, do the gnarliest spin grind but everyone with sponsors and exposure has the capability of making an impression of the people that are purchasing the companies they represent, and it baffles me that in an industry with hungry kids vying for even flow spots with companies we somhow still have someone who has made such a negative impact still being supported when there are kids with the talent and attitude to match still waiting for a shot.

That is idealistic and I know not every kid will get the sponsorship that they and their homeboys this they deserve, but the goal is still there and the hungry kids are still going to work for it. I really do think that there are still the kids with all the talent in the world who would just be on cloud 9 to skate with todays pros and those kids are the ones who are going to give the haffey's aragons, and shima's a run for their money at comps and deserve what they get because when the comps over, the skates have come off, they still represent the company in a positive way that their sponsors can see what they are doing and be proud to say that they are the ones taking a chance on this particular unknown indiviual.

There was alot there and it covered just a few of the things mentioned in this topic and not all of it was about mr. alfano but dang...i think rollerblading is something worth rambling about!
