how does the wilson instep compare to, say, the farmer instep?
is it in any way better? differences?

I guess it kinda makes your foot in more tighter? I had the farmer threes and currently have the wilsons... but I feel that maxipad strap made me feet bend inwards way more like I'm doing UFOs. Not sure if I was just foolish but I just threw my old farmer parts back on because I couldn't deal with it.
