Any word on a no grind edit part 2?

Charlie Hustles

That is pretty fucking disrespectful to take the top 10 from like half a days voting on a dumbass site that you can cheat on and then just act like those who hadn't gotten a lot of votes yet don't count. Those Roc City dudes other than Tim merked it to, and their not even in the poll? Everyone went out and busted their ass for this shit and they can't even see how they did. Just because they might not have gotten in the top 3 or whatever, I am sure they would like to see how they ranked against the other competitors. What the fuck?! Add everyone to the poll ASAP, this shit is retarded . . .

s.
01.04.2009, 16:53
Why did you only choose 10? You can have as many options as you want in a poll. Some people are going to be pissed.
actually you dont, I just tried to make a un-official poll with all the participants and failed, no more than 10options

Rickayyy
01.04.2009, 17:05
That's so fucking gay that those dudes cheated.

The Roc edit should be up as the Roc edit or everyone seperate.

Not just Tim.

can't believe how heated you are getting. i just needed to do something fast so that more people wouldn't cheat and then i would have no clue who had real votes and who had cheated votes. the only reason i picked a top 10 is because when the skaters got votes that fast, it means that is who people want to see win. there is only 1 winner, so i could have made a top 3 if i wanted to, because we all know who the top contenders are... it is too late now anyway, it wont let me add any more to the poll. im just excited to see that 19 people went out of their way to make an edit and that is cool enough in itself.

gatsby

unless admins can change the polling options if there is an open competition with more than 10 competitors on be-mag, everyone will have to cast their vote by replying to a thread stating who they want their vote counted towards

it probably wont get as many votes as a poll would, but this way everybody can count how many votes have been received and nobody is left out

or find another polling website with unlimited polling options, no registration required with the ability to only vote once

I voted Tim taylor because I think his was more in the spirit of the competition.

Tim Adams did some sick shit (especially the wall rides, and that one huge cap off the bump), but there weren't any toe rolls or stair bashes or anything like that in there.

This was going to be my response in the other thread

Fuck that, I wanna vote for Torres.

Mr T. should have won.

Rochester still wins though, there's no way Tim can lose.

Regardless if anyone wants to vote for me or not, it's completely ridiculous that I or anyone that put in an honest effort, wouldn't deserve a fair shot at even being included in the contest.

The reason our edit turned out the way it did, is because the four of us (who have all been involved in skating for a long ass time and have seen a lot of bullshit ideas come and go) saw the amazing potential in this concept. So we went out in our cold ass Rochester climate, bundled the fuck up, and scoured the grimy ass back alleys and industrial parks for unique looking obstacles that wouldn't involve grinding, but would stay true to the fundamentals of what (we feel) blading is about, while putting a slight twist on it. No, we didn't go swinging around on monkey bars, but we did fuck with some pretty unconventional terrain. No one can deny that. And like everything we do, we did take it seriously... right from the start, that's why our edit turned out the way it did. So to sum that thought up, the reason you see "video worthy skating in an online edit" (as mentioned by someone in one of the other threads) is because we were 100% behind the concept of the No Grinding Contest.

HOWEVER, I can only be behind a concept to a certain extent. If it's not being implemented in a fair and respectful manner, then I can no longer support it. I know this may be a stretch, but who is to say that Aaron Pyle even would have made it in the top 10 without his "supporters" when the cut was made? There is no way of knowing, and it is definitely not fair that his name remains at the top of the roster while other skaters (regardless of who they might be) who had honest voters voting for them (or would have) get left out. As petty as it sounds, every participant deserves to feel that gratification of seeing a number of votes next to their name, and knowing that somewhere out there on the other side of the world there is someone who is feeling their shit, plain and simple.

I understand that the intentions of this contest were all in good fun, but people need to realize the amazing amount of potential that things like this possess. Not only does it encourage people to go out and skate, but it encourages them to look at it in a different light.... AND PROMOTE IT!! So when you say "brah don't take it so seriously", realize that it's not necessarily this contest that I'm taking seriously, rather than this contests potential. There needs to be more things like this, but they need to be done right.

This needs to be fixed.

Tim Taylor is definitely a good vote. However, I dont see how toe rolls are automatically within the spirit of the competition. And ya... Tim A. did do a stair bash.

And please don't call me a dick since what I just responded with was what I consider to be a well thought out response, and this entire time I've praised the idea of this competition up and down.

Yeah I had a good laugh at that as well. I still believe that the poll could have been handled differently, but yeah... Somehow Be-Mag has a way of taking the coolest concept I've seen in years and turning it into Dramafest 2009.

Breaking down people's sections trick for trick to point out the flaws?
Knocking people because.... idk.... they 180'd this way instead of that way??
Knocking people for using 'props'?
Knocking people because their definition of creative didn't match your definition of creative?
Seriously, what kind of shit is this? Everyone put in a solid effort here so no one should be talking shit on anyone.

Yes. When the contest began I PM'd gf and said I'd donate $20 towards prize money for the winner. I don't know if anyone else donated, and gf said for me to take care of it directly with the winner. I can send it Paypal or USPS money order, whatever works best for you. But before I do, let's make this interesting :!:

In your edit, the guard-rail gap to prop-540 is 3 separate clips. We only get to see the 540 in the 3rd clip. If you pulled the 540 on the 2nd clip, I'll make it $100.

tim_adams
06.04.2009, 16:03
haha....

To explain, the first clip was the first attempt, which was basically me getting the nerve to actually commit (I'm not gonna lie, that shit had me scared). I jumped the first one, then 180'd the second one while laughing hysterically because I didn't just die.

The second angle was the second attempt, and I almost busted my ass. I ended up actually doing a switch 180 off the board, just because I was so off balance. Laced that switch 180, though. lol.

There's one attempt not in the edit where I fall on the 540. Then I landed it. So....no 100 dollars for me. :( But for real man, thanks for donating. I don't have a paypal account, but Mike T probably does. I'll shoot you a PM when I find out.

Oh, and for the record, this money is going toward a new gas grill for the mothafuckin stoop. It's gonna be a good year. 8)
