Topic says it all.

When I visited the U.S. I took off my shoes when I entered a skaters house, and he wouldnt stop laughing at me for not wearing shoes inside. I dont understand the concept of dragging the shit youve been stepping on in the streets into your house.

Please expain to me why you do this

Yes although if they treat their house like crap I tend to keep them on because they dont care.. My house generally runs a shoes off policy so my shoes tend to accumulate under the kitchen table which is normally the first place I sit down and kick em off.

The house I grew up in was a shithole so it didnt matter about taking my shoes off, nobody in my family did really. Thats carried on to the house I live in now, dont really matter about taking them off. If im at somebody elses house I will do though if thats the rules.

It depends. If it's hard floor, I tend to keep them on. If it's carpeted, I ask the host if he/she wants me to take off my shoes. Some people care while others don't give a fuck.

To me it would be disrespectful to not take them off. At my place, unless I'm going in and out a bunch I take them off. My dad's a fucking douche though and won't take his off.

I just watch whatever the host does or quickly ask.

I don't take them off when I go into my house. mostly because i have hardwood floors and my dog might step on my toes.

yeah unless it's a shitty house where the people don't care.

Mom always had a no shoe rule.... well, no shoes on carpet. Entryway to kitchen in her current house is all spanish tile, shoes are ok, but off the tile you will get hit with a frying pan. Where I live now every house has a knee high step between the entry area and the first room to remind you to take off your dirty ass shoes.

....isn't that what doormats are for?

I only do it if the person whose house I'm visiting does it. At my place, it's pretty much all hardwood/tile floors (save for one carpeted room). I used to take my shoes off after I finished work baking though, because the flour/yeast/cheese/shit that falls on the floor in a bakery would mean that ants swarm over the soles of your shoes in a matter of minutes.

Yes, I do take them off.. mostly because its more comfy.
Also I was brought up that way, it is impolite to wear shoes in tha house.

I usually go into peoples houses on business, unless they are asian, I ask if I should.

i take my shoes off because my mom is very particular about shoes in the house. it comes from her korean heritage. korean people do not allow shoes on in their homes because they do not use chairs to sit on. they use the floor as a chair. so they try not to track dirt and all that crap all over it.

My place: Not only do shoes go off, but socks go off and pants go off (switch into b-ball shorts/pajama pants/sweatpants). In the winter I occasionally rock the slippers. I hate wearing socks/shoes so barefoot is a must.

Others: Depends what their preferences are. I generally loose my shoes though as I hate wearing them.

My house: I take them off as soon as I get home, but I always have on socks.
Someone else's house: Only if they ask me to.

I always try to take them off but often is seems that many people insists that I not, that it's not a big deal because they don't.

I go in probably five houses a day in my line of work and I always see tracks through carpet because people can't take them off.

I spent $300 to get my house carpet cleaned and now there is a pile of shoes at the front door.

he must be in china or japan watching out for those evil shin high spirits.

my mom ingrained the shoes off policy into me, so i don't even consider other options. i just automatically take my shoes off when i enter a house.
