The material is falling appart, I am scared that they get ripped in pieces. I didn't even skated hard. I used my Salomon skates like 5 times after I got them new.
Also is it normal that some of the bolts that hold the soul plate stick out in the shell why other don't? Cuz for exemple on the bottom on my left skate it's like that:
Those that stick out in the inside of the shell are black (b) those that are perfectly flat in the inside of the shell are silver color (s)

It's the same thing on my right skate but inverted.
And the black bolts on the heel area are making holes in the shock absorbers but I don't think it's the only reason.

It actually looks worse then on the pictures.
So what is the reason? Mechanical, chimical?
That happened to one of mine. Eventually they will just crumble into pieces, I figure it was just a combination of being old and wear and tear. In the pair I had, I skated them for like three years.

Should I try to use glue?
I used tape and stuff to wrap around mine and it helped keep them together for a while. How old were your shells? From what I can tell, the materials are slightly different in the '99, '01, and post '04 ones (which are the ones I have, might actually have been changed earlier than that), but the post '04 and '01s have held up really well for me.
Oh, and did you have widebodies on them or something? The silver screws are the ones that you should use if you are riding them stock or with nights.

OOOOH now I understand why they have those stupid long bolts. Thank you very much for the information. My skates are ST Pro 2004.

I got them without the widebodies but they normally come with them, I suppose the seller removed them. But what should I do now? I don't have other silver bolts. :?

Just take out the long screws and move around the shorter screws. Not every space needs a screw. The front plates could deal with having 2-4 screws and the heel plates could deal with having just 2.
I took out the middle screw from the front negative side and put it in the back positive side, so there would be at least one screw for the front and back of the positive side.

It really doesn't matter that much.
As long as you have one screw on each side of each soul plate.

Yepp thanks a lot!
I am going to try to glue the shock absorbers, crazy glue or hot glue gun?
lim, how different does the material on the 99, 01 and 05+ look/feel? Is one softer then another? Do you have a personnal preference?
I have the same st pro's and st 90's, which shock absorbers will last longer? I need to sell st pro's but maybe I should switch the shock absorbers?

The old Salo heel pads are much denser and don't shock as much. I like them more just cause they don't fall apart. The grey ones are probably a better feel I would say.

The '00+ ones feel softer. The '99s are much darker and more coarse compared to the '00+ ones too. The only ones that have crumbled to a significant degree for me were the '99s.
