Next time i will set up shit to make it easier on me. maybe a few ramps. fuck i could have went out and jumped every gap i saw, did every big wall ride. i passed that shit up to show a different perspective of what you can do without grinding. thats what I thought this contest was about. my bad. calling me out or something?? cause i can do all that shit no problem.

Thats how I felt about it. Tim Adams section may have been bigger, but you can see that shit in any section (except that one tiny bump to huge gap, that was crazy). Tim Taylor's section was definitely had more creative and harder tricks. Tim Adams mostly just required guts.
I voted Tim Taylor.

I voted Tim Taylor.Tim Taylors section was fucking awesome. But I think the level of difficulty and creativity was very close for both sections. All of Adams tricks required a lot of skill, he jumped so high and did so many tough wallrides. I don't know how you credited them all to having the guts to do them.

Er, the amount of respect I had for Tim Adam's section did not come off in my original post. You're right, they were difficult tricks, but I guess I was just saying their size outweighed their difficulty, and by far outweighed their creativity (although there were a few creative tricks). I guess I was annoyed that the last trick in the section was just a ledge roll on a really wide ledge to big gap (which was good, just not, imo, in the spirit of the competition).
ya'll are tripping. wtf is prancing anyway?
i voted tim adams, but tim taylor was a close second.

a ledge roll on a really wide ledge to big gap (which was good, just not, imo, in the spirit of the competition).
the competition was no grinding, cess slides or stalls... so gaps are in the spirit of the competition
i assume you are talking about stair rides, toe rolls and handplants as the spirit of the competition... yeah these things arent grinding, but for the most part theyre also not cool, yes this is my opinion, but i cant see how people would get excited to see someone skate slow and handplant a rail that could easily be jumped over
this isnt intended to hate on any of the edits, i think that most of them were entertaining to watch and hopefully fun for everyone to make, but when it comes to judging them i dont really think you should not consider "big gaps" as being in the spirit of the competition

Here is Why I think Tim Taylor has the best entry for this contest:
I think the Rochester edit is dope as hell, but this is a No Grind open Battle and as far as I realize, all of these battles have been one on one so far. Tim Adams has a sick ass section, and after watching this edit, this crew has been added to the list one of only about 4 or 5 crews in the Rollerblading community that I would even care to skate with. I have definitely watched No Grinderblading with smiles on my faces 10's of times already, and appreciate the eagerness to enter and the effort it takes to put together 4 edits for this battle. I don't think it takes away from any individuals tricks in any way. with that being said,
The rochester edit is an edit , and if it was cut into four pieces each would lack as only Steve would have a beginning and only Tim would have an ending. This Doesn't or wouldn't matter in the voting process, if the current situation of polling wasn't at hand. (I'm not upset about the top 10 decision Greg, you have my respect also) I only bring this up because
Tim Taylors was fuckin rediculous.....

Tim did have his own section, Adam... all the Rochester guys did. Torres just put them up in one file to make it simpler for everyone. I mean I guess they shared the song, but so what?
One, timeline, One File, and One Song equals One Edit, it is a dope ass edit, flows great, great song, ideas and talent, but it is an edit.
Tim Taylor's edit is 4 minutes with only about 8 seconds of non skating b roll, no slow motion, and no repeated tricks. (Tim Adams is 2:52)
It has the most wallride variations but wallrides aren't dominating throughout the edit.
There is no park and no props or setups, each obstacle is skated as built, which seemed to be the consensus of what the people involved wanted to see, myself included.
He does include Big gaps, or does a mellow 12 set with 10 feet of flat and another mellow 12 not count? How about 540 or switch 540 after rolling a rail? Should I post all clips raw and make the edit 6 minutes?
All of the skating is smooth and consistent, and he is barely seen pushing, usually just rolling.
I went out of my way and production value to add fake rain to the world so we only got 2 and a half days to really shoot.
Just what I think, I've only been rollerblading for 20 years.
I love you KILLGORE, Denial is the only post UFS company I love sending my money to.

For the record, I could have only made Tim a section, and that was the original plan. Hell, it would have been a shit load easier for me, but Steve, Grant, and I were in so much support of this contest that we all wanted to put a little bit into it. Realistically, Steve, Grant, or My edits were never meant to be top contenders. They were more so just a little something added to show that we fully support movements and contests like this. The focus for this competition was always on Tim.... Always.
I could have easily broken up these 4 sections into 4 separate files... but, why would I? It's not like the 4 subjects included were intermixed into some sort of montage. They were four very defined, very separate, and very unique sections, what's the confusion here?
I'm glad that you liked the edit, but your point confuses the shit out of me.
And also for the record I fucking loved Tim Taylor's section.

don't sweat it man.... you're right it wasn't about going out and trying to 540 every 20+ stair you could find. your edit and tyler wade's to me were perfect. greg freeman's was dope too. you guys came at it like "what if grinding were never invented".... thats how I tried to skate in mine. but you and tyler took it to another level

For real. This kid skated in the rain to get this done on time. Ridiculous lines, etc.
EDIT: I didn't realize this got such a discussion going. Basically, the four of us went out skating together to film together. That's kinda what we do. So it makes sense to have one big edit, regardless of profile votes or the contest. It was fun and many tricks were laced by all, and the edit turned out well....perfect warm up to spring and summer weather. SHOUT OUT TO MY CREW FOR BEING DOPE.
And yeah, I voted for Tim T.

Tim Adams section was really good, but really good for what it was...just big gaps. Anyone can do big gaps if they damn well want to (Especially Tim Taylor).
No grind does not translate to all gap/wallride section. There is SO much more that can be done with rollerblading and I was under the impression that was what this contest was about.
I voted for tim taylr for his creativity and b/c i know how much non-grinding rollerblading tricks mean to him. For the longest time he wanted his Southern Motion section to be a no-grind section but Dodge insisted on grinds.
Lets not make this a "pick-sides" thing between tim taylor and tim adams b/c we all know that both of them (and many others) killed it for this competition.
aaron pyle. he clearly had the most fun making it. goofy tricks and shamelessness mixed with some tough tricks and creativity.

I will try to clarify a bit
I realize you could have made only a Tim section, which would bang, and you, Steve, and Grant would still have sick edits posted as well. I totally understand he was always the contender for you guys (as Tim Taylor for us) and I thought about just making one edit with Tim Taylor and I both in it, but due to me riding 90mm wheels and not wanting to go against the whole "battle" idea of solo edits, as all battles have been one v one, decided not to.
The skating is all in the eye of the beholder and whatnot, so who has the best tricks is subjective, but now when people are voting on top 10 and click on Tim Adams name to see his edit, they are linked to the file of all of you and I'm pretty sure that no one jumps 2:54 into the timeline and skips all but Tim .By the time it gets to Tim skating, everyone is already juiced because they have seen 3 minutes of dope skating with no grinding and may make their decision before he is even presented.
I'm guessing thats what was confusing you? I just don't want to be misunderstood.

Tim Adams. I was gonna vote for Tim Taylor since he had more variety and creativity, but there was some filler in his section that couldve been cut out. I voted for Jamie Olmstead but I have to chime in on this argument with Tim T and Charlie... When Charlie suggests that by doing smaller tricks you are "prancing around" it is made obvious that he has very strong insecurities about rollerblading. It is both immature and foolish to worry about what others think about you or rollerblading and to suggest that Tim Taylor is a pussy makes you look very ignorant. Tim Taylor shits on everyone on this messageboard (maybe not Farmer) and has done bigger gaps than most humans will ever do. When you are a seasoned rollerblader and you begin to progress past the need to show everyone how tough you are you realize that you can get the same great feeling by doing something on a smaller obstacle with more precision and style. I once believed that a monstrous 540 was going to save rollerblading but eventually realized rollerblading does not need salvation. It is already really tight, just needs some better designers to make cooler clothes. I respect hammers and think they are great when someone needs them for therapy (Carlos Pia) but they are really just kind of pointless. On a side note, stop trying to impress skateboarders, they will NEVER give us the key to the city. We are going to have to create our own city.

you make some interesting points however. this is a battle, meaning you do the best shit you can to beat some one else. and the fact that you voted for jamie olmsteen over tim taylor or tim adams. fuck, well thats ignorant really. if you watched tim adams section, man, he did proffessional level tricks, and didnt just do simple, big hammers he did tech hammers. 180 up to a ledge to zero spin a massive gap? wtf? and EVERYTHING he did was going faster than most people can max out on rollerblades. thats why i voted for tim adams... jamie olmsteen(while was fun to watch) didnt really do anything that the majority of rollerbladers every where cant do. his section was amatuer to say the least. and hammers are what impresses everyone else. if you show a 35 year old business man a 360 toe tap over a sidewalk to cess slide(which is very very difficult), then show him a top soul on a 20 foot drop rail. then ask him which one he thought was better. 95% chance he would say the top soul. hammers are sick.

Who cares what a 35 year old business man thinks, on that standard, I should do a backflip everytime I put skates on. Fortunately I skate for myself and not whoever is watching.
Jamie your edit was dope as hell as was Aaron's, Greg's and others, I don't think Ive made that known yet.

im not saying dont skate for yourself. im saying when your filming for something like a video, or a battle, you shouldn't just do little tech tricks because youll lose peoples intrest if you only do one type of trick selection. i dont know just my opinion.

Why would tech trick lose a rollerbladers interest??? I thought Tim Taylor had a good variety of type of trick, Not to take away from Tim Adams, but he only had 7 clips without a wallride, and used a good bit props talking about trick selection.. did you even watch the link i just posted in my earlier response?

you make some interesting points however. this is a battle, meaning you do the best shit you can to beat some one else. and the fact that you voted for jamie olmsteen over tim taylor or tim adams. fuck, well thats ignorant really. if you watched tim adams section, man, he did proffessional level tricks, and didnt just do simple, big hammers he did tech hammers.
None of what I said will make sense to you until you are 23 years of age and ride Xsjados. I was working on vg19 with the best rollerbladers in the world when I was 19 and shared the same mentality you have right now. I just cant listen to the youngsters of today because in all honestly you guys have let us down. There are 3 people in your generation that hold it down, Montre, Jon Jon and Adam Mcmanus. Is there not one person who can step up and do something worth a half a shit? I am fine buying videos from Kenny Owens, Lonnie G, Jochen and the Kelso/Paz team as they continue to hold it down for those of us with open minds and increased age. Europe, I am not talking to you, you have done an exceptional job of making blading appealing to people who arent on their parents dime. I suppose my generation is to blame for not creating some sort of network/company for older blade dogs. I am rambling but he point is this...
This was a contest for the Be-Mag messageboard and to think that people need to risk their lives to get votes from a messageboard is fucking stupid. If you want to see people doing massive shit than stop fucking around online and support real flim makers by buying skate videos.

Tim Taylor's shit was weak. Way too much prancing. He could have done better.
TIM ADAMS for the steez, trick selection, and no prancing.
TRICK SELECTION???? PRANCING???? Seriously? wtf. yes i could have done better. lets see rain is a factor. and time. all that shit was filmed within a few days.
Okay, here we go . . .
Tim Taylor's section broken down:
0:12 - Should have stayed fakie to jump over the rail
0:23 - 0:27 - No grabs
0:35 - 0:39 - I guess it's cool to skate slow as fuck . . .
0:40 - 0:53 - Massive prance session. Those tricks were not hard at all and you were going 1 MPH. You are not DL. You did not make that look cool. The only cool thing about that was the sneaky little rocket at the end.
1:03 - I hate 1 footed wallrides especially if they aren't grabbed
1:05 - 1:20 - All of those tricks were easy. Is this an edit contest or a how-to video. Cool you can do wallrides, so can almost everyone else, step your game up. And the tappy tap was just straight wack.
1:24 - Goofy wide legged makio roll
1:30 - Switch spins are only dope if they look as good as your regular spins. No grab and improper kick-up
1:35 - 1:59 - That shit was actually pretty dope
2:05 - 2:54 - Back to prancing. None of that was hard or really that original. Anybody could do that shit. Oh, but it was raining . . . you sound like one of those kids who always has an excuse for why his tricks weren't up to par, oh, my wheel is chunked, my bearing is broken, it's raining, etc . . . Also, good job maintaining your constant speed of 1 MPH
3:06 - 3:19 - Still talking it slow, 360 on the ledge was kind of cool, then you touched your hand, I am surprised that you even rolled away and didn't just stand there at the end, you were going so fucking slow
3:21 - 3:30 - That was not cool, difficult, or stylish
3:34 - 3:44 - No way, you can roll the bottom ledge on 8 stairs and fakie stair bash 4 stairs, you're fucking good, bro
3:47 - 3:59 - Sick ender dude, that was definitely something that no one can do or has ever done, that must have took so much creativity to think of, damn a long toe roll, damn
Not to mention that the filming was pretty shitty, the colors were horrible, and the song was boring, though it was so fucking slow that it definitely went with the skating.
If you want to "show a different perspective" on skating, then maybe you should try to do that a little bit better, because that shit was wack as fuck. You can definetely do dope creative shit without skating Mach -1 and doing ridiculously easy and relatively uncreative things.
I voted for Jamie Olmstead but I have to chime in on this argument with Tim T and Charlie... I never called him a pussy. In fact, I said that he could do better, inferring that I truly believe that he has the ability to do better tricks than were showcased in that section. Dude was dope as fuck in Super Heroes of the Underworld, but he fell off in Underestimated. I have seen a few dope clips of him recently however and was hoping that he might have stepped his game up drastically out of nowhere, but I was greatly disappointed.
I am not hating on "doing smaller tricks." If you skate fast, steez shit out, and do something that is actually difficult, small tricks can be dope as fuck. By "prancing around" I was talking about going real slow, and doing a bunch of pseduo-Jesus DL type shit, while not actually doing anything incredibly difficult or stylish.
I am insecure about rollerblading and trying to impress skateboarders? What the fuck are you even talking about? Skating is dope as fuck, and I could give a shit about skateboarders. Half of my friends skateboard and they think rolling is dope too. I could give a fuck what people think about me or what I love to do, because I know that shit is ill and fun to me. However, if I see some wack ass shit I am going to call it out. Plain and simple. No hidden insecurities about it, I thought that section was fucking weak, and I thought that Tim Adams section was dope as fuck. I mean, just peep that shit, dude skating PERFECTLY. Perfect trick selection, crazy amplitude, fast as fuck, mad swagger, cool clothes, perfect filming, dope editing, dope colors, ill song, that shit was on point as fuck! Probably the best section I have seen so far this year (other than maybe Jon Jon and Shima or those few clips that Sagona had in one of those Conference ads). Tim Adams style alone took the whole fucking contest by storm, but I can understand how, judging from your own rollerblading, you might not know much about that . . .
None of what I said will make sense to you until you are 23 years of age and ride Xsjados. I was really remaining cool and shit until you straight talked down on a whole generation. You sound mad bitter, son. Damn, you were the annoying dude in VG19 we all had to skip to watch Farmer' section, damn "King" please bestow all of your knowledge upon us . . . fuck all that. Yo, there are mad heads who are killing it, mad heads who know about style and trick selection and what the fuck is dope:
Cody Porche
Jon Jon Bolino
Mark Wodja
Mike Koliner
The Brieley's (sp?) have been consistently stepping their games up
Max Ballestero
Trevor Tylosky
I still got much respect for you Mr. Dowling, as I do for anyone who has dedicated their time and effort to something that we all love, rollerblading. If we ever meet, I hope to blaze a blunt with you, my friend. But, if you are going to start trying to dish out insults and assumptions, be prepared for someone to really drop some science . . .
And Tim Taylor, when you came to Orlando back in the day, we all saw that you were a dick. Apparently, you think that you are much better at skating than you actually are. If you were real, you would be giving Tim Adams mad props right now on dropping one of the most ridiculously swagged out and epic mini-sections I have seen in years for a fucking online edit, rather than crying about why some people thought that your "prancing" was not on point.

I havent had to pay for skates since that video came out and fortunately company owners and my crew have enjoyed my steezus. I also got lots of pussy, ran my mouth, was cool with kids at comps/demos, threw contests and was constantly getting arrested or being an all around badass. Here, I'll break it down for you:

I should have probably been skating a little faster up to that kingrind.
My butt was sticking out way to much on my approach, why does my shirt always come up over my butt? I think I have a big butt or something.
I was a little bit unhappy with that ride-away. I think that I should have put my head up a little bit more as a I rolled away.
As soon as I realized that Ian was actually filming that clip, you can tell where I start to look kind of sketched because I get weirded out when people film me just rolling sometimes.
Other than that, I'm feeling it.
http://www.vimeo.com/3792747 @ 09:40
I could have been skating a little bit faster. You can always be skating faster (except for Tim Adams, damn I see why they call it Mach Tim).
I was not expecting Ian to put this clip in an edit. Personally, I would have not allowed it because I did not grab out. I landed the mute grab out to forward, but could not get the mute grab to fakie that day.
I was seriously jocking the ride-away and outfit, though, bahaha.

I haven't paid for skates since VG19 either because I used to be flow for Salomon. Why are you sorry for me not "getting these things" that you speak of? I live the street life, doggy, I have experienced all that x 10. Not everyone gears their life to the same aspirations . . .
Thanks for actually responding to any of the points that I made.
:?
I really didnt see any points strong enough to respond to except you taking a personal attack on my skating. Your opinions on Tim Taylors section are irrelevant and silly. Tim is a nice guy and has always had issues with people thinking he is a dick because he stays to himself and is quiet. I was not surprised when I googled your name and found out you are from Florida. Florida has always resented The South and I wish that more would have been done in the early days to bring you guys more shine. I am from North Miami and spent my early years on 163rd street so I have much love for Florida. VG19 Florida section would have crushed shit, that was Padilla, Morales, Alex, Martinez times and it would have been a rad section. I agree that Tim Adams is awesome, he is a good friend and his portion of that edit (along with the rest of it) was rad. I hope that an opportunity for you to get off the streets comes along and you take it. I have seen many good people fall victim to that lifestyle and it is always frustrating.

and if you have a section of you online, please post it so I can get to work on "breakin that shit down son"

I could have been skating a litlte bit faster.
The first line was fresh, didnt feel like watching 9:40 of anything online but I am sure that it was another skating trick. Top acids and kind grinds are very plain tricks and bike racks are very obvious obstacles. I think that many people thought this battle was about being creative and pushing to do new tricks. You should skate more and try new shit, its actually a lot of fun to get outside of your comfort zone and prance around you fucking fruitbooter.

Florida resents the south? What are you talking about, dude? Nothing that you said in that response even made sense.

UR ARGUMENT IZ INVALID BCUZ I DONT PAY 4 SKATES BRO
Al, you have never been a fan but if you are under the impression that I judge people based on if they are sponsored you need to wake the fuck up. I was attacked for things I have done on a public level in rollerblading. It is very obvious for anyone on skates to say something about me hosting vg19. It is the same tired and unoriginal argument I have heard for years. If we are basing a debate off public and relevant information than I will use the same tactics.

If you are wiling to tell me that Florida as a whole hasnt gotten shit on and looked over more than almost any other scene in the world than I will stop talking. In my opinion you guys have always got the short end of the stick.

Tim Taylor's edit was cool, so was Tim Adams.
Everyone who entered was different and tons of them made their tricks look original and executed them nicely!

Timmy T. OG appreciation.
8)
Charlie that's about all i need to quote for you.
you def. got some hate for me and it makes me smile. you are a fucking hater man please get out and blade sometime. but thanks for breaking down my section. here's how i saw it.
0:12 could have zero spin over rail yup ( but i wanted to do athat grab over rail into bank) already did a zero spin to start line off. next two tricks are dinky but still did what i could with the spot to make a 4 trick line.
0:23 - 0:27 no grabs-your right. planting off one obstacle to do a couple wall rides was not enough. i did those two things quick and moved on to another spot.
0:35 - 0:39 if your talking about the two jumps over the rail.. no approach did what i could with what i had. jumped over rail switch 3 off, next trick switch 180 then switch fakie 3 off. next time i will build a ramp to drop in on for speed.
0:40 -0:53 jump up 6 stairs to instantly jump up another five ( not hard ) nope timing your jumps and trying to keep speed for the line was easy! ha ha. alright i already jumped 2 times in this line, i go with something different steps/hand plant to get bank to kinked ledge roll and throw in a sneaky SHIFTY done.
1:03 - first trick zero mute wall ride. there's your GRAB. 3:32 another grabbed wall ride how many you want. i can put two or one feet on a wall with a grab when i want, clearly shown. all sorts of wall rides in edit got em.
1:05 - 1:20 again with the wall rides. vertical up and down wall stall at the start between the branches ok executed fine popped on and off well roll away clean. moving on illusion wall ride no problem.. next trick switch 270 to wall ride. shit looked fine. half cab outspin wall ride switch again.. handled that shit.. next thing wall tappy thanks i"am glad you didn't like it. your obviously wall ride master " http://www.vimeo.com/3792747 @ 09:40 "no charlie step your wall ride game up".. my wall rides are pretty solid g.
1:24 switch roll down rail.. don't care. i challenged myself and rolled it with my left foot a lil sketchy whatever.
1:30 switch 540 was nasty. don't care again still landed 1st try again moved to new spot.
2:05 - 2:54 yeah i got heart and skate in the rain and still laced tricks. run up fence jump to roll in nothing wrong with it was different moved on again. every trick with the stair rides etc. still don't see anything wrong with skating a bit outta my norm and showing hey i can get down on lil fun obstacles like that. 2.35 -3.52 wet slippery tiles/rain yes couldn't not get proper speed no traction. even skating flat. i still made tricks happen thats what counts in the end.
3:06 - 3:19 still landed all tricks man what do you want? yes was going slow still made it happen. i am a magician i can land shit and roll away no matter what. open your eyes i was trying to keep my speed and after all the drops that is what is left of my speed again tricks landed.
3:21 - 3:30 your just blind or not paying attention to whats going on. well from the start i am rolling on a 1ft wide blocks of cement. first jump is over a mail box plus rail. land. again over a rail to land. ride drop lose speed cause of this to jump three mail boxes. not a easy line. solid tho.
3:34 - 3:44 yes here's your GRABBED wall ride. rolled the ledge under the rail yup. its another line. linking tricks and being consistent is the name of the game.
3:47 - 3:59 its a heel roll charlie not a toe roll again you have mixed your trick names up. remember shifty not rocket from earlier 0.53
another line- half cab parallel over trash bin then heel roll to fakie. whatever man i know plenty people can do that i obviously proved I can. so what, go watch transcend jason m. does a heel roll who gives a fuck. you really think i expected props for fakie stair riding all those sets of stairs. did that for fun.
props to everyone that made edits.
props to charlie for shooting my edit down and telling me my shit is wack.

I just cant listen to the youngsters of today because in all honestly you guys have let us down. There are 3 people in your generation that hold it down, Montre, Jon Jon and Adam Mcmanus.
+ erik stokely.
besides them i cant think of many under 21 bladers i really really dig. i like that other dude mcmanus skates with too, dustin or dylan?
how old is montre?
I am interested in seeing more of this Erik Stokley guy but isnt he just a Mike Lilly t-dogg who got lucky when Mike realized he needed to get the ball rolling on reality? I may be wrong but doesnt he rock the same exact stomp/chest out/look at the camera thing?Watch this video:
