i skated them at barnburner and they were so fun to skate, the 72mm wheels, which werent the stock wheels however, made skating feel new. i really liked them and i think im going to get a pair.

what makes them so great? what do you like about them? i really wanna know. I think i have the best set up ever right now..but i am intrested in these skates. They are made from the old Dirk Mold and that mold was perfect. Just the souls were too small.

Moya said they were comfy and fast but the souls are so thick you didn't feel the grind.

Well the souls are definately not small on these so you dont have to worry about that. What I like most about these skates are the 45 degree buckle system. I really like my skates tight but because of a ankle break a few years back I have very limited flex in one foot. With the solo skates I can crank down the buckle and still leave the velcro strap a little loose giving me the prefect amount of flex while keeping my foot stationary.

The switch frames are also great. I ride 72mm on the outside and 55mm on the inside. I'm not sure about not "feeling" your grinds. I feel all my grinds and lock my tricks more consistently with these skates.

Last thing is the souls are damn fast. Anyone that has skated with me knows I usually wax everything I skate even drop rails. But with these I dont have to do that.

And I guess I'm different than everyone else cause I really like the way they look. Try em out if you are interested. I love them and everyone else that I've talked to is a huge fan too.

I have a pair. They are ok. They slide unbelievably fast and are really fun skates. They bad thing is, is that after skating in them for 15 min my feet become to sore. The skate is too thin and hurt my feet. I mean they are ok but def not worth the price. (at least not for the estillo solo.)

Really good skates. Here's my two-hundred cents:
-The shell has an amazing fit and although I'm sure not every foot will fit in them I think most people will like it.
-The liners are amazing. They are thin in the right places so that you can fit a smaller skate (instead of poofy liners that take up shell room.) They are padded in the right places which would be around the ankle and tongue (Although I could use more tongue padding) and a great heel cup that keeps you locked in.
-The 45 degree buckle is well placed but since they used the small TRS buckle that strips, is really hard, and has a huge receptor, the buckle hurt the top of my foot when buckled tight and I could see it breaking easily.
-The lacing goes really far up the boot so that when laced tight I don't think the buckle would even be necessary. When the buckle is taken off the boot looks slimmer and sleeker.
-The velcro on the cuffs seems to do it's job. I could see it wearing down like Shadow straps but those don't seem to be a problem. The boot is really stiff so you would have to really break it in to lose some sturdiness.
-The sole plates are just bad. They are unnecessarily large and worst of all the are mostly hollow so that once you wear them down or groove them deeply you have broken through them. They could have (and still can HINT HINT) made solid soles that are closer to the boot and use the little indent in the boot to have a really deep, close to the foot groove.
-The frames are awesome, in theory, but it boils down to them being too tall. A 72mm wheel can't be much better than a 62mm one, and taking a centimeter off the frame would be a great improvement. Al explained to me that the frames aren't recessed into the boot more than a few millimeters so the close to the boot feeling isn't really there, or as much as it could be, anyways.
-The frame-to-bottom-of-boot-mount seems to be solid. Unlike the gen razors with 4-piece soles that would wear and tear the boot when torque was put on the frame, the sole of this boot is really thick so it should be pretty solid. It's not going to be the same feel as the Razors SL boots though, of course.

After wall of text is said and done, I really like the skates, but the length of the 8-9 shells are too short and long, respectively so I'm not going to be skating them. Hopefully they fix the soles though.

I think these skates are two steps back in design, but I would be willing to skate them (maybe) if the souls weren't so wide, making it necessary to use the stock frames to have a relatively normal backslide angle. I don't want to ride frames that tall.

as someone who has skated almost every brand of skate since 1995 and someone who has skated the "tall" frames i will say this:

I have skated these frames on two different pairs of skates ( currently nimh v1s) and i have no problem even with a normal soul plate they don't feel that tall. I skate them with 72mm wheels anti-rocker with 47mm and i actually find that my groove tricks are easier and feel as well as look much better. IMO they don't feel too tall or unstable at all. I had a short period getting used to topsides but i will honestly say that i find them easier now than ever.

so i can't review the new RB skate but i think that those who are skeptical of the switch frames.....try them out before assuming they feel too tall. In my experience they have helped my skating a great deal.
