People in NYC

I have always had this fascination with NYC. It just seems so tight, so much shit going on, so many people. How is it actually living there, I can't imagine living in such a place, my head would explode with enjoyment. Is it as tight as I think or really just an overcrowded metropolitan city? I want to take a trip there, probably this summer...What the fuck should I do? Worthwhile places to visit, things to do? Good places to go get wasted that are appropriate(not too nice, too shitty, age app. etc) and anyone from there who reads this please fill in anything I'm missing, I just thought of this in the last few days.

My uncle lives in a little mountain town like an hour outside the city, so I've been to NYC plenty of times and never had a bad experience.

From what I hear, it is pretty expensive, but, the standard of living is way better there so if you can afford it its awesome.
