just quoting for the truth of the matter... it kills me seeing people put out edits every day that are better than lots of the flow riders for companies out there... razors i know you guys have been doing shop sponsors for years now... but maybe its time to move on to something different for now?
i like your hidden message and i agree
and quit giving rookies free blades. This. Everyone is always saying how the industry has no money, yet every skate company flows two hundred kids skates. It's like it's no big deal to be sponsored any more. Then these kids gives their friend the hand me downs, they put new frames on them, and bam no money circulating in blading.

As far as real street pros are concerned, no one ever EARNS or DESERVES turning pro.....some are CHOSEN and most are not. The idea that a skater will be turned pro once they reach a certain degree of talent/style/maturity is a fantasy.....just a marketing angle sold to skaters willing to believe the fantasy and pay for the reality.
Sorry, that's how it works.

foolish....flowing so many riders is very dumb.....i know someone already said it but most of the kids dont deserve it and its rippin off our industry....a shop sponsor should be enough!
I'm going for it either way Seth.
I don't need a fucking title to throw down with a seriousness.
Anyway, I don't deserve to be pro beside any of the 5 others named (including Tim).
I'm going to put in work for the next two years, do my best to strengthen the rollerblading scene in The South, and try to go pro right before the world blows up in 2012.

jakeordie
31.12.2009, 16:30
I think most of the names mentioned in this thread will be pro for their current sponsors in time. New skater-owned companies like Create Originals can't support 4 pros in their first year or two, and some ams need another year or two to cement their status as seasoned veterans.
But Razors & Ski is a joke.....dude killed shit forever and repped loyally with insane sections.
al dolega
31.12.2009, 17:11
The simple fact is that there are more people who deserve pro status (or at least a lot more recognition/pay/exposure/etc than they're getting) than there are available slots/spaces/money to do so. People love to run around and point fingers at this company and that company but it's just a byproduct of rollerblading being where it's at right now; it's no one faction's fault.
Proportionally, our current population has a shitload of older (in age and/or experience) people, of which many are of course amazing at skating, but very few youngsters (of any ability) coming in (or staying in) to support them. In order to support/sponsor/appreciate all the people who deserve it, rollerblading needs way, way more young/new kids. We don't have them, so the pros/should-be-pros/etc suffer for it.
Ideally our age/experience demographics should look like a pyramid: a wide base of new/young skaters at the bottom, and a narrow peak of older/experienced/amazing skaters at the top. With a tapering middle comprised of skaters who fall between the two extremes, of course. The money flows upward, but it's fighting the gravity of markups, costs, employees, taxes, etc, which all siphon money off on the way up; thus the base needs to be wider than the peak.
But it doesn't look like that right now, it looks like a rectangle, or even an inverted triangle. There isn't enough money to fight that gravity, so very little reaches the top of the graph. We're like a huge tree that's lost most of its roots and whose water supply is drying up; soon we will just dry up and fall over.

ok heres some proof that companies waste time and money giving out skates to shops or kids who dont deserve them.
there was a skate shop here when i first moved here called blade-n-skate.
it was run by an older asian lady who had no idea what she was doing.
around the time that the shima 4's and stockwells were coming out she was told by sunshine that she would get a "shop flow spot" which meant she could pick a kid to ride flow for her shop and that kid would get a free pair of razors when new boots were released. so instead of going to the three or four kids here who were really good at the time( and trust me there were a few kids here who were fucking good even for now) she goes and starts giving the skates they sent to some little yuppy brat who hadnt even been skating very long. this kid starts going around telling everyone he rides for razors and hes am for razors and then quits and starts doing coke at like all crazy at sixteen. even a little while after the shop closed they were still sending her skates which she was selling on fucking ebay.
now.....if they had done even a little bit of checking in they would have known that giving her/her shop a free pair of skates EVERY time they released a pair was a total waste.
im sure this is the case with a large majority of these deals they work out with shop owners.
even with all this throwing skates around like whatever....i worked at a shop in san diego and we tried to help some kids out in a jam and we get in trouble and get put on fucking suspension with a distributor where we cant get anymore products.....straight up bullshit. they can be charitable to the point of wasting money when it makes them kinda look good but we cant help out some kids who just wanna skate?

^ That's bullshit. Thre are definantly people who should not be flow. People just comin into the game where style only counts.. People who have shown their skill and blade really hard deserve it. Like Broskow people talk shit about him,but look at what he has done in his career. We know he is the shit. Also I know people who get flow skates from dif companies don't rock them and sell them. That's so lamne. My friend got a apair from Remz and tried to sell them for full price so he could buy the same pair in his size and got kicked off the team. WTF!

I just saw that John Bolino has signed up for the Winterclash PRO 2010 in Berlin. As far as i understand, the only way you can compete in the PRO, is when you are PRO for a boot company. So because of that, the NIMH amīs; Montre, Joey and John are all proīs for NIMH ???
