most idiot thing ive ever heard is paying $200+ per month plus intrest (thats for an economy car too) , probably about 200 dollars a year at least for maintenance, and about 200 per month on gas (if you get the full use of the car). when you could just as easily pay a flat 300 for a decent bike that can take you just as many places and get health benefits. yeah you cant get very far as fast, but amtrack tickets are fairly cheap depending on where you need to go. In my eyes, a car is a terrible investment. Unless you have the money to get a high end hand made car that appreciates in value instead of being worth half as much as soon as you sign the dotted line.

i'd love to see your bike get you halfway across the country in three days.

that's because it's not an investment duh

most idiotic thing i've heard is having to rely on others to get you places based on their schedule.

it would be nice to be able to rely on a bicycle but the fact of the matter is that most people do not live within biking distance of the places they need to go.

secondly, 99.999999% of people do not look at their cars as "investments". they look at cars as tools to get to the places they need to go. when I bought my toyota corolla, i was not thinking about how much i could sell it for in 10 years like some fucking piece of art. i was thinking about how i could use it to get around.

owning a house is the only smart thing out there right now. if you don't have a car, but own your property, you're makin money right there.

buying a brand new car is such a bad idea, most used car places also offer a warranty and you pay less than half of what a new car would be only there are 40k miles on there that you didn't put on, big fucking deal

they complained because it was sitting up on blocks for two months, we pushed it because its engine is just sitting on the motor mounts, it's not attached

some guy is bringing me a boxed atari 2600 and cash for the engine this weekend, it's going in his mustang

You should give your car to the girl that you're obsessed with/live with that doesn't care about you. She can park it in the garage next to the jar where she keeps your tiny balls.

Why the fuck are you spending that much on a car if you "hate having a car". Buy a $1000 Civic and call it good.

My cars fucking rad......

I can fit so many things in the back,
its air-conditioned,
I own it rather than the bank or finance
The stereos great
I got it for a great price
I followed the service schedule and had no probs.

Sure it would be a perfect world if public transport was so good you didnt need a car or we could all ride bikes.
But when the temp hits 42 degrees or its raining Id rather be in my air conditioned car and out the rain than walking.

Before owning this one I had a pretty kewl muscle car from the 80's, a rotary Mazda , a yellow Ford like the one from Mad max and a bunch of 4 Cylinders.

Growing up with one parent we never had a car, walked everywhere and caught buses.
Everytime I see people walking, especially families with kids(carrying shopping) I feel kinda shitty for them.

a car IS a terrible investment. unfortunately in most locations its absolutely inevitable. id much prefer to move to a location where a car isnt necessary, and as soon as i find some roommates and move then the car i bought 3 weeks ago is getting sold.

i love driving, but i fucking hate maintaining a car. fuck cars. too bad i suck at riding a bike, and live 20 miles from civilization.
