Illustrator vector tracing experiment from a few years ago:

a few weeks ago, an all vector cover for a 9th Annual Women's Law retreat brochure (at a casino) in northern Indiana. They gave me all of the verbiage, so I didn't come up with the "Women lawyers have 9 lives" thing.

just learning Illustrator, right?
Spend some time on this site, it will shock you how fast you pick up the pen tool and other amazing things about Illustrator: www.vectips.com
learn about proper gradient usage, proper usage of strokes, and alignment. Also, having a Workspace that allows for the best availability of tools without having to search for them saves so much time, as well as learning shortcut keys.
check out www.dafont.com for tons of free fonts, and also learn about creating outlines with text and offset paths to create interesting type treatments.
this is a good site, too: http://www.illustrationclass.com/

oh man, are you in for some swimming with the sharks http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_lol.gif
75% of my work flow is in Illustrator. The other 25% is shared between QuarkXpress, InDesign and Photoshop. But I am more than proficient in them all, I just prefer to work with vector artwork due to the fact that you can scale it to any size without loss of resolution.
Here are some good Photoshop sites, then:
http://psd.tutsplus.com/articles/web/50-great-photoshop-tutorials-for-clever-beginners/
http://www.tutorialized.com/tutorials/Photoshop/1
Illustrator isn't a program that you just sit down with and figure out. It literally takes years to become good at it, and even longer to become great at it. Photoshop is different in the sense that Filters and Actions can do a lot of work for you without you actually knowing what the hell the program is doing to get the end result.
I'm not going to comment on your work, other than to say that no one should be so proud as to refuse a good old fashion nudge in the right direction.

haha... yeah I know its not any good really... but i do appreciate the help. I am planning on taking some illustrator and indesign courses to broaden my horizons... Im in an architecture school so I am learning mostly AutoCad, Revit, Rhino, Sketchup, and other 3D rendering software..
I eventually want to do 3D rendered videos.... But I figure that the Graphic design element with the Creative Suite stuff will be super helpful with both my creativity and my ability to work with design software.

Here's a link to a 32 page magazine I designed from scratch for the Association of Retired Americans, a competitor to AARP.
http://issuu.com/res_gestae/docs/vintage_times_2010
Issues come out twice a year in the Summer and Winter. Ignore the crossword answers, Issuu.com fucked it up during the conversion process. Also, some of the page numbers are messed up, this was an early version and was not sent to the printers like this.
I just got a dozen print copies in the mail, they look very nice. 15,000 copies were printed and distributed across the country. the next issue might have a print count of 100,000 depending on budget.
http://www.lulu.com/content/content_download_redirect.php?contentId=8729313&version=1
free download. A 22 page graphic novel i made. last semester (my last semester of college) i took Media Illustration Workshop. I learned a lot about sequential art and comic books and stuff, which is cool because i never got into comics as a kid. Static Brothers is a hip hop/dubstep project that has been in the works with myself and a few friends lately.. All of the lyrics that me and the other mc (played by indy bones) come up with have that super hero/save the world, type vibe to them, and that gave me the idea to visualize it all for my final. Classic super hero theme and "quest" type story line. The next step is to create a file that turns the page for you on the computer and our instrumentals go along with the story. Tell me what you think plz, my professor said he really liked the style i used for it and that it was very unique, but i want to hear what some outside people say bout it.

Did you do the feather work at the end?
I would have hung the skates upside down and put strings to the shoe laces to extend them a bit to get a more realistic gravity look. :) That was sick though.
http://vimeo.com/30598421
Here's an example of a intro that I plan on using for all the seattle skater related videos. I need to animate the clouds more, apparently I didn't animate it enough for the eye to catch it. The birds in the foreground need to be scaled down and maybe even pushed back in z space. I could also fine tune the wiggle on the camera a bit better and color correct the space needle. But it took me like 8 hours to rending that shit out in a Jpeg sequence. My computer is too fucking old. :(

This used to be such a sick part on here, sick updates and posts every week.
I think theres tomuch different random stuff in this topic that makes it not cool to post in for graphic designers.

old, but never posted in here. Filmed, edited. Nothing special about hte filming or editing. Did the motion graphic thing in the beginning as well. I'm not a great designer, but I love playing with AE.

I've got kind of famous in amsterdam
but to be honest it scared the shit out of me to stand there, esp. doing the demo on a Beta which crashes quite a lot

Congradulations man!
Recently moved and while looking for a new job in addition to freelance work I redid my portfolio. Here's a few pieces. Oh and if anyone has a Dribbble invite, please help me out if you can.

made this using only one asset. A jpeg screen of my desktop. did a quick and dirty job seperating the layers in Photoshop, then dropped it into After effects to pull the shit apart. I spent the most time creating the universe in the background using the built in CC Particle World cz cs6 doesn't support the trapcode's particular. :/ Wait, no, it would have been the same. Wrap your minds around how I made that universe only using the particle system.

Second video shot on my T4i and edited on my iPad with Pinnacle Studio. I'm struggling with things to shoot for practice until I can do stuff for work. iPad is just because I want to learn the app for on-site work. This setup would have been invaluable when I was on the 777 Tour.
