The current Xsjado pro team is Damien Wilson, Ben Schwab, Jeff Stockwell and Chris Farmer. Now a new person joins the almost impossible to enter ranks of the pro team! Im not saying if it's a boy or a girl, but what I can say that almost no-one in the company except the pro team (and the rider, obviously, that would just be silly if he or she or it didn't) and day to day office staff know who it is! I kept my mouth firmly shut on this one.

I just watched a few of his vimeo edits...from like a few days ago to like 2 months ago. He is really good, but yeah...his skating just seems like it doesn't have any personality. come on, moya. we don't need XGames gold medals to know who is "better" than who (not like it matters, but when SOOO little people are getting the $ they deserve, it matters to some). the argument "there is no way ____ is better than ____" is easily solved - just look how they skate. who does tricks with both feet? who spins both ways? who spins both ways into and out of grinds (reg and switch grinds)? how does their style play into it? who skates all kinds of objects? who goes huge? etc. etc. etc.
its easy. and you can easily compare unlike skaters, as well. there are standards for who is "better" and its not x-games gold. its who has the most skill.

JC is "better" than a large majority of pro bladers, but it's still okay to say that others are "better". comparing skaters is easy when you can plainly look at criteria like: reg trick vocab, switch trick vocab, spin vocab, switch spin vocab, spins into/out (both ways) of grinds (both ways), skates all objects, style, amplitude, ability to construct lines etc.

blading is like anything else. there are concepts to it, and the ones who can go more in depth into more concepts is "better".

yes, you "prefer" watching jc. a lot of people do. but BillyDoyleUK was telling moya to at least admit that those other dudes are better at blading (which they are). not that they are more fun to watch than jc, just better at blading.

It seems the whole problem here is that you and Moya are defining "better" much differently. To Matt, "best" (or "better") means "most fun to watch" (or "more fun to watch"). And for you, it means "can do the most tricks" or "can do the hardest tricks".

The real debate here is not which skaters fit into which definition- that seems pretty clear- but, which definition is more valid?

i know i was posting while you were posting this, so you didn't have a chance to read it, but i (obviously biased) clearly think that my definition of "better" is a lot more valid than "better = fun to watch". i think that oli short, charles dunkle, and rob G are fun to watch, but i have no problem saying that other people are "better" because they can do more tricks, switch and natural, spin both ways into and out of grinds, and go bigger.

its not about how many tricks you can do, or how much balls you have. anyone can soul grind a drop rail, and anyone can 450 royale a handicap if they really tried at it... but not many people can make it look as smooth or natural as JC Rowe..

JC has flow that could kill a panda, Bolino has tricks that could end a marriage, Montre goes bigger than anyone right now and does ganster ass tech shit.. Haffey Can do anything he wants, Browskow has the control of a mongoose, Farmer does mindbending tricks that don't make sense, Aragon is a robot, Sagona has the style to make James Dean wet himself...

as opposed to someone like.... Victor Arias, who might be a really nice and cool guy in real life, but you don't see much footage of him that shows that, and his presence isn't as powerful as the top pros.

to me JC has presence. He was at X-dreams for an RFCC demo like 3 or 4 years ago and just seeing him, he oozed confidence and stature.
