makes sense. it's like a car that comes in a sedan and a wagon. they are looking to improve on the skate, but don't want to drive away the people that like the current one. impressive, sounds like they got the carbon dialed in, but want to expand on it. who knows? i really want to try them out, but i am in no hurry to get them as i don't like how the current ones look.

the only problem i have is the colors. i mean, honestly, they just clash, they don't look good AT ALL. I mean, hell, I skate xsjado, so I shouldn't be one to talk about aesthetics, but at least xsjados have a reasonable color scheme going. thats the only thing that needs fixing on that skate, but im sure it'll be addressed in future prototypes. get psyched on a new skate design, you won't.

just an un educated guess, but it seems like every part is a different color so you can see all the different parts more clearly. Seein as its just a prototype dangle, that makes the most sense in my head, i dont think he made it like that to look 'frsh'

If you’re making a prototype of something in an early stage of development, you tend to use materials because you expect them to perform in a certain way.

Shure, adding color sort of changes the characteristics of a certain material, but before you think about aestetics you have to find the proper material.

I'm pretty sure you can rest assure that the different coloured parts where intentional to outline the different pieces needed to produce and put together the skate. It's a prototype. Even on that blog you can see he planned to wrap the skate in a skin afterward. That just looks like a skeleton awaiting a skin.

Here is a excerpt of a manual Valo sent out to shops for the release of the AB Gold. It showed the major improvement ot the skate, a single gold eyelit, in a vast quantity of angles.

1. carbon skates tehnology comes from speedskating and freeskates
2. imperial = cheap carbons (they dont use carbon, they use plastic)
3. valo skates has nothing to do with speedskate tehnology.. you will not find speedskates with 3 layers (liner 3-10milimetrs, boot 3 milimetrs, skin1-2milimetrs)
4. so what if all of them looks like skates :D

Both these skates are IMPERIALZ protos, no Carbon involved...

In the edit that was out a few days ago you could actually »hear« they were made of plastic... ;)

They are as good as the old ones. If not better. The slimmer sole is a myth, doesn't change anything. Having the ankle support in the shoe and not just the cuff is a good thing. But I personally don't like the looks of them.

New O'Neills are nice. The new duals are really good, too.

The EVOs are cool, too. You just need to get rid of the gay in the dark cuff and replace it with a black or grey one.

The imperials are much much softer skates over all. I liked the idea of the carbons but they were way too stiff for me. The imperial broken in seemed to be pretty perfect.
